  1. I have a friend who's birthday is coming up, he lives and breathes the guitar and graduated from a music school. He has a lot of CDs of guitar players who I don't know, but I though it be fun for me, the soundtrack junkie, to get him a soundtrack he might enjoy. The only idea I had so far was one with lots of great guitar work - but I'm not the best judge. I'm hoping one of you are. :D

What soundtrack would you get for a guitar player?

    Thanks!!

Earlier this year, and at the end of last years, these compilations were released:

It's a acoustic guitar instrumentation of various themes and pieces from scores, so not necessarily guitar scores. All performed and arranged by Gregg Nestor (who's also a member here, posting now and then)

    Miklos Rosza Guitar Compilation:

    You Must Remember this too

I particularly like the last one, which is excellent music for summery evenings. smile

John Barry's Until September also features some gorgeous electric and accoustic guitar work.

If Cailin's friend is into guitarists he may well be familiar with Pat Metheny's work?

Didn't we do a thread on guitar-based scores recently?
    I am extremely serious.

I like the idea of Bregt and Tom's suggestion, I only wonder if an order will arrive by Saturday. Maybe there's a more readily available option?

Timmer, I would guess so. He name drops people all the time. I can't ask or it'll be a dead give away.

Please Thor, by all means, point me in the right direction. I wasn't aware of the previous discussion. smile

We've actually had a couple of guitar threads, but here's the most recent one:

  4. Thanks friends for all your suggestions. I'm going with the "You Must Remember This Too" or "The Perfect Storm" dependent on which one I get a hold of first. Thanks again.

I think we could have helped more if you knew the names of some of the guitarists your friend is into?

I would like to recommend another one When Ginny Kissed Harry from Half Blood Prince. This is just excellent piece of music.

  5. Alan Silvestri's excellent score to "The Quick and the Dead" has guitars (regular, spanish):

Maybe a compilation would be better, otherwise he'd be missing out on guitar cues like this:
