Interesting picks! As always some I agree with and others I don't. I'm relieved to see an absence of THE HOBBIT. Still flabbergasted what people see in EVIL DEAD -- especially as a listening experience.
    I am extremely serious.

Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.

I have yet to be able to sit through either version of this score in one sitting. Personally, I try and experience a score in one sitting. The presentation format for this makes that impossible. If Shore's music had been at a particular level then perhaps I would have "stuck it out".

    But unfortunately not.

Mostly from Spain. They seem particularly passionate about their film music.

    Naedelei - Dan Heflin

Some excellent choral work is the highlight of this score.

    Spate - Mike Raznick

    http://reelmusic.wordpress.com/2014/04/ … e-raznick/

Spate's a platformer game with a very good atmospheric score featuring a 30-piece orchestra and featuring a number of soloists including Martin Tillman on cello.

In all seriousness, that name is so stereotypically Greek, I think it might be racist.
  11. A new review on my Reel Music blog:

    Fuga - Arturo Díez Boscovich

    http://reelmusic.wordpress.com/2014/04/ … boscovich/

This is a fantastic little score for an amazing short animated film from Spain. Please take a look at this review and I encourage everyone to follow the link to watch the film (you can spare 15 minutes out of your day can't you?) When I watched it for the first time the other day I was blown away by how creative it is - and I have watched it over and over again since then. It's that kind of film.

Indeed. Superb film (I saw it some months ago) -- well worth the 15 minutes -- and gorgeous score too. "Delicious darkness", as I like to call it.
    I am extremely serious.

It was very creative, and (the film) quite a bit darker than I bargained for!
I have to say I did find the 'surprise ending' not much of a shocker, in light of certain relatively recent films to do with performing arts (I won't go into detail to not spoil anything). But yeah, I saw that coming a mile off.

The score is very powerful, but not something I'd listen to away from the source at all.
It truly supports the imagery, but would not fare well on its own, even after viewing the film
