What film composers were working 50 years ago that no-one remembers today? (And don't say "dunno, can't remember.")

Eagle Eye is the same rhythmic action music I heard in all his action scores, but I liked it more than the others, because it was perfect for the movie (which I loved as well)

But for Dragonball I think the Eagle Eye sound won't work, it needs something epic
And if Varese says it is epic, I'm not sure it will be that at all confused
    waaaaaahhhhhhhh!!! Where's my nut? arrrghhhhhhh

Well, maybe the film isn't epic? If that's the case and it's another poor teenage pop-rock ride, it'd probably need something like TRANSFORMERS.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.

I´m afraid it´ll be a poor teenage pop-rock ride. I hope not though, as the original series is a myth for a whole generation.

I agree, but a lot of such myths were given the trendy fuck-up approach in the Hollywood, during the last years. It seems to generally go as a rule, let's hope this skips it.

Last week, composer Brian Tyler was at the Newman Scoring Stage at 20th Century Fox to record his score for the upcoming high-speed action film, Fast and Furious, the fourth in the franchise. ScoringSessions.com is excited to bring you the exclusive photos from the session!

"Having scored The Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift for director Justin Lin, Tyler revisited some of the action rhythms from the previous film (as well as Han's Theme, as he shows up in this film), and also created new themes for the various characters. The blend of electronics, electric guitar and heavy percussion with the full orchestra (sans trumpets) created a bold momentum that persisted through much of the sessions. There were some quieter cues though, with a hint of ethnicity provided through woodwinds.'

Sounds another typical Tyler ride then but God knows i wanna listen to this! punk

  3. I actually liked Tokyo Drift, so it may indeed be fun.

And that's cool D cool Far be it to for me to suggest otherwise if someone likes it. I can hear that it's NOT the "other" Tyler but it's just blah music to me.

Improvise on the piano, record a demo, go to the same orchestra with the same people working on you, take the recording, go home, add electronics and middle eastern percussion / couple of usual ethnic instruments and / or drums and cello which he plays himself in the same way every time, and there you go.

  6. either way, it can't be good on the creative mind
I like his style a lot, but to discover that Darkness Falls is still his best (alongside Eagle Eye) troubles me

He has yet to bring his very first grand score

That's IF he has that capability within himself!? or IF he ever even gets that kind of opportunity? Not many composers get offered a Star Wars, Dances With Wolves, Lord of The Rings, Ben-Hur, Shawshank Redemption etc etc.

You're right, and this is something always worth bearing in mind. Tyler showed in his early scores that he's capable of being good - more than good, perhaps - but it's disappointing that after a few years, those early scores remain his best. He's certainly stuck in a real rut and I'd love to see him break out of it and show us what he can do.
