  1. Well, yeah, At World's End also has a great theme, but Spanglish is the best one.

I like several scores by Zimmer.
I like several scores by Tyler.
I don't like certain scores from Zimmer.
I don't like certain scores from Tyler.

    Um.
I'm sure there was a point to this post.

    Bah.
F*ck it, I'm off listening to some Tyler. Or some Zimmer.

    Or maybe even some Bach.

I swear nobody even listens to the Rango album because of the songs and dialogue, or else I should see at least a few comments about what a great score it is. Just because its reminiscent of Morricone does not mean its not also pure Zimmer.

    I'm a fan! wave

    I think it's excellent.

I think it's pretty strong, but it doesn't do much to disguise its influences.
  2. What are the influences there?

Columbus Circles is about 5-10 minutes too long and except that a good score, but if minimalistic music for a string quartet references the noir tradition then I seemingly have no idea what the tradition is!

Very nice, his most European, Marianelli score to date. Also very subdued for his usual style. Organic and piano-driven too.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.
  3. Some Brian Tyler reviews:

    - The Big Empty
    - Bubba Ho-Tep
    - Frailty
    - The Hunted
    - Timeline
    waaaaaahhhhhhhh!!! Where's my nut? arrrghhhhhhh
  4. Nice set of reviews Thomas.

Some of his best scores there!Pity you don't like The Hunted very much. I understand your reasons though. Timeline is my favourite of his, together with Darkness Falls. There's something about the former which is so cool. In fact, I'm gonna listen to it. cheesy

I can't understand anyone liking The Hunted at all, take away those 4 tracks and its shite, Darkness Falls is still my favourite of him, because it was his first.

and most of his action scores is basically Darkness Falls revisited.
Timeline, enjoyable yes but so unoriginal

Come on Pawel....we all know you think Tyler rules. Just admit it, it's really easy:

tyler is one of the most unoriginal composers, who scores are 80% the same

I agree, his sound is awesome and highly enjoyable, but that cool edge fades the moment you realize it's not gonna change a thing.

I can not believe people defend him so much, knowing others are bashed so easily for other things

Yeah, alright. Fun thing is that those who bash Tyler, aren't taking into account his rest of the body of work that doesn't sound like the action scores you concentrate upon, there's stuff like the killing room, or Brake, bug, the list is big.

and how much have I rated The Killing Room you think?
4 stars, no other scores of Tyler gets such a rating

and I haven't heard Bug or Brake yet, but considering I'm listening to all of them, I will eventually

i like brian tylers music because of his action scores. the Fast & Furious series is awesome. also his music for War and Eagle Eye. i like the rhythm of the strings and his use of percussions. his themes and motifs for these movies are also good. i know, all these scores have a very similar sound, but they also have such power and energy. they are alot of fun to listen for me.
