Well, revulsion may be a slight overstatement.
It's just that at times I feel anyone in The Netherlands who is able to make one biting comment automatically gets promoted to cabaret performer. The greater part of whom I see on TV don't challenge me in any way: they're not funny (slightly amusing at best), not witty, not clever, they can't sing very well, they do nothing that's in any way innovative.
Most of them I just find incredibly dull.
The last performer that was TRULY trying to push the genre in another direction was Herman Finkers twenty-odd years ago. Everyone else to my mind just cracks a good joke now and then.
That's fine at parties, but not worth sitting through two+ hours of mediocre "wit" for.
Oh, do you like Hans Liberg? A bit music related.

Morgan and Stromberg are having a concert in Long Beach next month at the old Warner Bros. theater. Moonie and Roy might fly into San Diego and we'll all attend.
