    The Pagemaster - James Horner

This one came on by mistake (I meant to click on something else) but I listened anyway, and it's great!

As much as I love Zimmer's third Pirates score, Horner shows us what proper piratey music sounds like in that score.

Delerue - the London Sessions (volume 1) : So many lovely themes, particularly Rich and Famous
  1. Yes, that's a fantastic piece! I don't have the London Sessions disc, but I do have the Great Composers compilation, which used a lot (most? all?) of the London Sessions stuff. Memories of Me is my favorite piece from that. Rich and Famous is probably #2 or #3 for me.

Not great. If you already have an LP transfer then I'd probably stick with that (though it's reportedly better than the old Artemis bootleg - I didn't have that).

NP: Heavy Metal 2000 - Frederick Talgorn

    Very enjoyable!
Not as thematic as Bernstein's masterpiece but most impressive nonetheless! cool

Might give Raiders another spin. Going to YouTube search menu.....

NP The International (Tom Tykwer, etc etc)

Sixty minutes that seem like an only, boring track. I had to wait until the end credits to find something close to be interesting. As for the rest, dark and monotonous underscore that I don´t doubt it will serve the movie well, but it is awful as a listening experience.

In a bit of a darkened mood today.
Kilar's Ninth Gate very well accompanies it.

Man, does this guy know how to weave a melody. And so well orchestrated as well.

  2. Sneakers (James Horner)

On Compact Disc. (I think mentioning this fact is of the utmost importance these days)

One of Horner's better suspense thriller scores. When suspense scores still had melody. It has that playful and lighthearted atmosphere to it. "Too Many Secrets" is a wonderful building cue. "The Escape / Whistler's Rescue" has that vintage Horner stamp all over it. I love this one.

Now what in god's name is this youtube thing everyone's talking about ? confused

Does it also contain material from Raiders Of The Lost Ark?
I have no idea why I just asked that. I just felt I had to.

Okay. Someone at FSM did me a CDR straight from vinyl ( not the Atemis ) and it sounds fine, I'll stick with that.

NP: As Good As It Gets - Hans Zimmer

I love how Zimmer and James Brooks blended humor, romance and emotion very well into this lovely film and score. The Greatest Woman On Earth is the most romantic part, but it's not overdone. The finale is also charming and beautiful.

I'm really looking forward to their next collaboration! smile
