    No, Bond = Roger Moore

Well, people who are wrong tend to think that people who are right are wrong. By saying that they're wrong, you're actually proving them right. <- logic

  1. That is bad. But it could be worse. Does anyone consider Sylvester McCoy "their Doctor"?

I agree. Preachy, overblown, without the sense of irony or humour.
Unfortunate, really. Some of the best stories involved him.

My favourites were Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker, those were the ones I grew up with.

I thought McCoy would be great....I was wrong.

I thought Michel Legrand would be great on Never Say Never Again....I was wrong. ( see how I kept it back on topic cheesy )

    Oh, c'MON!
    Fiennes is FINE!

(Except in The Avengers. But I don't blame him for that. No one person should live with that burden of guilt.)

Looks stylish and doesn't give anything away. cool
  3. I think they've already won the award for best cinematography in a Bond film.

I think so too. It looks fabulous.
    I am extremely serious.
  4. Of about as much interest as the Olympic torch coverage I am afraid.

The James Bond franchise seems to have an inherent following that I find difficult to understand.

Same here. I never understood what the big deal was, and -- in fact -- only saw my first pre-Brosnan films a few years ago. Never cared for the whole James Bond thing much.

BUT....I HAVE enjoyed the new Daniel Craig films, a symbiosis of the JASON BOURNE aesthetic and the traditional mood, dialogue, style etc. That's more up my alley, regardless of whatever connection they have to James Bond. And this new one looks like the best one yet.
    I am extremely serious.
  5. I'm in a similar position to Thor, although the Brosnan stuff hasn't dated any better than the rest of the history for me. I'm obviously not a Bond fan since I say things like -- 'CASINO ROYALE is the first really good one.' (Sorry Tim!)

I like the old ones and watched them all the time while growing up. The first one I saw in the cinema was Die Another Day when I was 12 and I even enjoyed that (I accept now that it's total crap).

Casino Royale was awesome in a totally different way and is my favourite Bond film. The older movies seem very camp now, although the Connery ones are awesome.

Quantum Of Solace was a load of pants, but I have high hopes for Skyfall.

Bond is the only character that comes close to rivalling Indiana Jones.
  6. I think that for action movie historians the 007 series are a fantastic case in point when it comes to noticing severe changes in filmmaking style during the years. The funny thing is while Casino Royale is great (I even kind of enjoyed Quantum of Solace, even if I see its shortcomings), this is when the Bond movies stopped to be trendsetters, but rather started applying trends. Maybe except Die Another Day, but that was probably even worse than Quantum.

I managed to see all the Bond movies in sequence when they were aired that way on TV here.
