    No worries, Tom.
Luckily you're not living in Poland.

(Imagine what they do to you there when you listen to Polish composers out of sequence!
"Yikes" doesn't begin to cover it! :freeze: )

A question to Tim. Should Vaughan Williams symphonies be listened in sequence or it is really mood dependant?

What you might like with me right now is that I found Lark Ascending so beautiful that right now I can't imagine a day without starting it with this particular piece.

I agree with Tom, I don't think it matters unless you want to hear the development.

I'm so pleased you've fallen for The Lark Ascending, it's a sublime piece that, for me, transcends mere words.

  2. I am yet to listen to it while reading to the original poem that inspired it, but I am heavily looking forward to that experience.

NP: OVERTURE IN D MINOR...SERGEY TANEYEV. He wrote this piece at the age of 19. He went on to study mathematics as well as music and became obsessed with counterpoint.

  3. Which instrument did he play?

I know that John Williams was a pianist on Magnificient Seven, but that's about it.

That's right Tom, he had a hit with 'Gonna Fly Now'.

Ferguson definitely had what Miles Davis referred to as 'chops'.

Yes, I often associate that piece with early rising sun morning air. A true pastoral beauty.

    NP Solace Michael Hoppe

i discovered this music while I was on a massage table smile I asked what the music playing was and got the disc a few days later. The orchestral parts are very Barry like. Some other cues are new age type. Cellist Martin Tillman (who plays with Hans Zimmer) plays on this CD.

Fantastic impressionistic work, wonderful stuff and has always been evocative to me from when I was trekking through the Thai jungle with headphones on ( well, more when we stopped for an hours break ) .
