    Ok.

It's a bloody rockin' beast of a score whose grand prowess is bowed to by mere mortals, acknowledging the rare total absence of an Achilles' heel!!

    That'll do? wink biggrin

    punk cool

Now that's a friggin' proper score. punk
None of this lightweight, lovely and charming nonsense!

I'm inclined to agree with you, on the whole I prefer my scores with a healthy helping of meat on the bones. Of course, there is always a time when 'lightweight, lovely and charming' has it's moments too though these klinds of scores can sort of drift over you unnoticed at times.

I find I can listen to lightweight scores by certain composers and be perfectly content with them, most notably Horner, because he always brings something to the table that stands out from the rest. In the case of most of Desplat's scores, they just feel too clinical, too restrained. I don't want that in film music, I want to hear escapism, and passion, and feeling by CROM!

    There. bunny

May not be the best score ever composed, but remains as dear and desired by me as when I first listened to it. DOWN with this crappy bootleg, fingers crossed for an official complete CD release or proper quality promo.

YES! STAR WARS BY JOHN WILLIAMS. LOUD TOO.

....WHAT!? SORRY, YOU'LL HAVE TO SPEAK UP.
  1. "Elegy for Dunkirk" from Atonement - Dario Marianelli

This is such a lovely track. Highlight of the album for me, which was one of the best scores from a fairly good year for movie music, imo (2007).

Meh! There hasn't been a really, really good film music year since 2004. But you said "fairly good" so whatever you definition of fairly is then you might be right.

    NP:Dragon Ball Evolution (Tyler)

At least now I notice the 2 themes. Generic, but noticeable (And you can't say this of every Tyler score...)

Enjoyable played really loud (probably for his running time, Only 60 minutes!).Reminds me a little bit to his Anthems from Timeline.

I like the Dragonball Evolution score a lot. I think it gets better the more times you listen to it.

NP: The Final Destination - Bryan Tyler

Recently I've become a Bryan Tyler fan cause I love his action music. He did a good job incorporating the theme from the previous score.

Well, He puts a lot of energy and "agressivity" in his scores.I love his powerful orchestrations, If he only could be a better melodist...

Darkness Falls, Timeline, Bug and AVP 2 his best efforts. I Expect he someday puts the same energy in the melody than in he puts in the orchestrations.

One thing is sure, he is the handsome composer ever!
  2. Ah, come on -- Shaiman in his heyday must have been a charmer. Tyler? He looks like he should be in TF&TF.
The views and opinions of Ford A. Thaxton are his own and do not necessarily reflect the ones of ANYONE else.

    Oh my Gosh!!!!

this score it's one of the best horror scores I ever heard in my entire life! it's friggin AMAZING!

The main theme is addictive as hell (Never said better),there is a lot of "hey! this a score for halloween" stuff, and the piano theme is really intimate and beautiful ("tale of a haunted Banker is wonderful!!!!!!!)

    "concerto to hell"

Indeed. With Hellraiser and Hellraiser II, it makes a perfect trio of horror scores. Probably the best horror scores ever composed.

I'm working on the review and it is a great score just not the gushing recommendation that Jon gave. He is certainly entitled to his opinion. I took a bit of bashing recently when I gave Lonely Are The Brave ***** too. I'm thinking more in the **** range myself.
