Arguably one of the best games coming out this year, and it's only three weeks away!

Check this story out though, obtained from a leaked copy of the game.

IF that is true, I´m not really sure they needed to emulate Grand Theft Auto, as justified as they make it look.

Yeah, if the mainstream press get a hold of the story they will spin it in the wrong direction. Frankly I think it's a brilliant, original idea and I praise them for doing something different.

Here's a question: If in games you are allowed to kill adult characters, do you think it would be okay to kill child characters?

Here's another one: how about computer-simulated child pornography?

You've brought up an interesting and extremely controversial point, young master Steven.
My own take is that, even though no people (or children) are hurt (obviously, as both examples concern simulations), I still find it morally objectionable as two main conditions occur: the suggested action is morally reprehensible per se and suggested in such a realistic context and manner that it's impossible NOT to draw comparisons to such events in real life.

An excellent point. The comparison between adult pornography and child pornography in the animated world is perhaps a little more black and white than the killing of a child as compared to an adult though. The latter is morally reprehensible in both cases, whereas the former has one socially acceptable action, and another socially unacceptable action.

My own take is that, even though no people (or children) are hurt (obviously, as both examples concern simulations), I still find it morally objectionable as two main conditions occur: the suggested action is morally reprehensible and suggested in such a realistic context and manner that it's impossible NOT to draw comparisons to such events in real life.

Which brings me back to my point above: Is not the suggested action of killing an innocent adult character in games morally reprehensible too?

Obviously, it's worse to kill a child. That much I suppose is a given. But why is it so more acceptable to kill innocent adult characters as opposed to child characters? I'm certainly not preaching, I'm just thinking out aloud. I honestly don't know, I guess it's a very muddy topic! My gut says No to killing child characters, that much I know. But in all honesty, I wouldn't feel any more remorse for killing a child character in game than I would an adult one. Does that make me a bad person?

Very good points S and M (ooops, this reminds me of something else wink )

But seriously. Now you're giving them ideas, but seriously what will happen when someone does this? What will they find against it, how will they justify it being "illegal" ?

I've not bought it, I've never played COD 4, but I might as well get it someday.
