I think I'm getting too old to still like these sort of muscular action scores with enourmous brass section and bold themes. I used to love these sorts of Golden Age scores.... My taste has definitely changed these last 5 years. -

How old are you? I don't think I will ever grow old enough to "hate" brassy, thematic scores!

I'm now in my mid-twenties and just don't feel like listening to them anymore (with some exceptions). For me it's a combination of age and change of taste. What I like now is music I can listen to while reading the newspaper, while I used to listen to every kind of score. -

I find age just expands my taste, not necessarily changing it. -

I guarantee that one day you'll wonder how you came to like a particular type of music when it was once something you loathed. On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

Likewise. Although I do like what I've heard of this score, I prefer the intimate/emotional scores more than anything else.
I remember playing Conan The Barbarian and The Mummy a few months back and I found myself wishing it were over soon so that I could switch to something nicer.
And I often get jaded with film music in general so I just stay away from them for a while. It's been more than a month since I played a score.
I prefer watching movies instead. I haven't opened Baaria, Die Paepstin, Black Stallion Returns, Star Trek-- Wrath of Khan... the list is endless.

Don't make fun of this guys, it's like metal / rock / generally loud and intense music and its apex in one's youth, whilst a lot of people grow into more intimate, much more toned-down, somewhat melancholic and esoteric listens as years go by.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

Yup. I've grown FAR more mellow over the years. I don't listen much to my bombastic, brassy stuff anymore (although I have a lot of it, leftovers from my youth). I'm far more into calmer, soothing stuff - whether it is melody-driven or more ambient in style.I am extremely serious. -

To hell with that, I'll still be listening to Rage Against The Machine when I'm 70.
If I survive that long with all this brassy music I listen to of course. -

Yeah, that's what you say now. Somehow, I don't see me dancing around to Paul Oakenfold and Rammstein when I'm 80. But they're gonna be fond memories of my youth.I am extremely serious. -

Considering I don't dance, I don't think I'll have much of a problem. I certainly don't plan to grow old and be one of these people who complain about being old! (Which is what makes you old.) -

I still enjoy lots of bands from my pre-teen and teen years! Rage is certainly one of them. -

I think 'back then' in my teen years I was a little more influenced by other people's tastes, but I must admit quite a few of those tastes have stuck around. I find it very hard to imagine there will ever be a day that I 'go off' something like Rage Against The Machine (or brassy film music for that matter). Their first album is one of my favourites! I guess only time will tell.
