    I would be very glad if Avatar won. But I guess it won't.
    Is there a score out there at the moment with many songs and a little insignificant musical score? Because if there is, that one will win, for sure...

    I think as-presented-in-a-film Up is definitely the strongest, but if it was for sheer pulling power and how many times I've listened to it Star Trek would wind hands down. Probably not only for the most listened to Giacchino score, but most listened to of any score in 2009.

    Neither UP nor AVATAR will get it, although one of them MAY be nominated. It's simply too much "fan favourite" material and too mainstream. Something like Korzeniowski's A SINGLE MAN is a FAR better bet! That's perfectly in line with the academy's picks over the last years.
    I am extremely serious.

    I haven't heard it yet, but Single Man is a likely choice too. Especially because it's Abel's debut score and has been critically successful.

    Just a week ago, Sacha Baron Cohen — the alter ego of Borat and Brüno — was announced as an Oscar presenter by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Now, suddenly, Baron Cohen has vanished from that list. Why is he gone from the show? Because one of the broadcast's producers was scared he might offend gazillionaire Best Director nominee James Cameron.

    ... Baron Cohen planned to appear onstage as a blue-skinned, female Na’vi, with Stiller translating “her” interplanetary speech. As the skit went on, though, it would become clear that Stiller wasn’t translating properly, because Cohen would grow ever more upset. At its climax, an infuriated Baron Cohen would pull open “her” evening gown to reveal that s/he was pregnant, knocked up with Cameron’s love child, and would go on to confront her baby daddy as if s/he were on Jerry Springer.

    Well, since it'll be 2:30 at night over here when the ceremony starts, and it ends around 6:00 in the morning... And I have to get up for work at 7:00... it would be really irresponsible if I'd watch it. Then again, a normally paid for film tv-network is airing Oscar television for free all day as a promotion in the Netherlands, including the Oscars... and it would feel like a missed opportunity not to watch it. I've never seen it live... So, call me irresponsible :p

    They'll be airing Gosford Park in an hour witch I wanna see, will catch some sleep afterwards, and watch the Oscars tonight. Although I haven't completely made up my mind yet...

    I was glad for Sandra Bullock winning. I have always liked her and her speech at the Razzie awards just made me like her even more. Funny girl!

    It was one of the better speaches of the night, I think (as opposed to Jeff Bridges who just kept rambling on dizzy ). But what was the deal with Giacchino when he was about to go up on stage? He looked very confused! confused
