    It's an ostinato wink
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.
  1. Sounds more like a particular recording of an ostinato that keeps getting inserted into compositions by composers who aren't known for writing 100% of their own material. wink

  2. The percussion sample may be a case of a certain library.

  3. Definitely it's a case of a library. I am just listening to an unreleased cue from Zimmer/Balfe/half of LA's Modern Warfare and the exact same figure is there.

Just watched Casino Royale, which reminded me of David Arnold's "Grand theft Hellboy" smile "Death of Vesper" certainly has Liz Sherman's theme in there...

The first few notes of the Tron: Legacy theme (ex. "Overture" from 0:25-1:00) keep reminding me of a slo-mo version of some movie production studio's fanfare, but I can't place which one's. I'm sure it's a coincidence rather than a rip, but I keep expecting the theme to go in a different direction every time I hear it. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

    Also, this:

-Battleforge: "Lords of the Skies" (First 2 minutes)
    -Blazing Angels: "Main Theme"

Both happen to be from fairly obscure video games, and I kind of doubt Dynamedion, the composing team for Battleforge, has ever heard of Blazing Angels. Which makes for one big coincidence.

There seems to be some pretty obvious temp track copying from Mr. & Mrs. Smith in Fast Five.

Powell also seems to be ripping himself off with Mr. & Mrs. Smith ending up in The Bourne Ultimatum.

Like being dubstep (shoot me now) wasn't enough, they do sound very similar too! I don't know who copied who.

  4. Surely, the beginning of this track must be licensed?

The first few seconds seem to be directly lifted from Jerry Goldsmith's score for Alien - perhaps with a bit of original stuff laid on top. It only seems to be in this one small bit but it does sound to have been directly taken from the OST.

Ah yeah, I suspected that was what you were thinking about, but to be honest I didn't hear that much of a similarity beyond some vague textural similarities. Maybe because the sound quality wasn't that great. Difficult to assert the details.
