Seriously, though, what is Pluto's status these days? If it's not a planet, what is it? A 'celestial object'? That's rather vague.

Another billion miles journey and mission well done! The New Horizons mission succeeded its Pluto flyby. This and the Rosetta mission, what a year for science!
And now we know why Pluto is called like that:

Not a good jab, Steven. The Middle Ages had a strong fascination with decomposition for example and actually, the original iconic depiction of death wasn't a skeleton, but rather a decomposing female body. It's not my fault that you touched upon a tradition that was very prolific until at least the 1800s... and, actually, had a very strong theological explanationhttp://www.filmmusic.pl - Polish Film Music Review Website -

Well, as I said, while the process itself was largely unknown in terms of biology, decay was one of the things the Church back in the Middle Ages loved to use in terms of "selling" their message... and became a very important part of the culture of its time.
On another note, I wonder if you know why exactly the Copernicus system (I'm dubbing it that, even though I'm aware the heliocentric theory had actually an ancient precedent) was such a huge issue for the Church at the time.http://www.filmmusic.pl - Polish Film Music Review Website -

Sure it does, it's a cat thinking it's a hamster."considering I've seen an enormous debate here about The Amazing Spider-Man and the ones who love it, and the ones who hate it, I feel myself obliged to say: TASTE DIFFERS, DEAL WITH IT" - Thomas G. -
