Joep is a young Dutch composer who I often meet during the film music events in Ghent. He asked me to share a bit of news about his work and his latest score for Joris & Boris, a Dutch adventure film for kids.

Good stuff! A very colourful score, with many styles (as the adventure takes them to quite a bit of places). I think the main theme is quite catchy (present in the first track, like on Soundcloud "Opening"). I thought it was unpretentious and fun, especially the last half hour which goes through a lot of highlights.
Other highlights
- the grand opening of Welcome to Cyprus, with the main theme shining
- the brass in "Op pad"
- the finale in "De gordel"
- Hoppa, a terrific track in which he gives on one of the smaller themes a real good smack with a sirtaki like rhythm. Really cool.
If I have to compare it with something, I'd go for the energy in Sinbad (HGW) and some of the rest of Zimmer's Spanglish. The more upbeat music certainly has an air that I also liked in A League of their Own.
It's enthusiast and quite a bit of fun to listen to. I think there's a bit too much music on the cd though, in the middle half it's not always exciting.
You can get the score also on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, ...Kazoo -

I've eaten with a sporck before. The views and opinions of Ford A. Thaxton are his own and do not necessarily reflect the ones of ANYONE else. -

Joep...the guy who buys all those obscure soundtracks? Why doesn't he post here more often?I am extremely serious. -

I listened to the samples and I thought the work was nicely done, though it changes too much and the ideas never fully develop -- but when you're servicing a film, I understand that.
Is it my imagination, or did I hear a little Christophe Beck BTVS influence in one of those first two tracks (on Soundcloud)? The views and opinions of Ford A. Thaxton are his own and do not necessarily reflect the ones of ANYONE else. -

I came across Sinterklaas En Het Raadsel Van 5 December at the beginning of the month and took a listen to the clips.
Some of the tracks were very enjoyable indeed and I particularly recommend taking a listen to "Opening", "Sateliet Lancering", "Juffrouw Pieta" and "Finale".The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -
