Which is why I lean more these days to some of the fine classical music available.

you have a point there, but then only classical music that leans close to the actual symphonic filmmusic, stuff like 1812, Tsjakovsky (don't know how to spell it sorry shame ), Gustav Holst, stuff like that smile

  4. considering the Twilight Carter Burwell review

Is William's review and quotation now a just one, or are the (so far) 7 votes a fairer representation?

I haven't heard Twilight yet, and I like Burwell but I wasn't that enthusiastic when I saw William's review to go out and hear it

in fact, are these even member ratings, or die hard Twilight visitors who promote the thing no matter what?

Hey Thomas. I dearly hope my review is a correct representation of what the score does and doesn't have to offer. I have heard it all the way through multiple times, and I feel I am correct in my judgement of the work. However, I suppose there's always room for error, but I just don't feel this is the case. Ask Demetris, for example; he will likely tell you that he agrees with my review. (He too finds the score boring.)

I've also been wondering this. From my experience with them, Twilight fans seem obnoxiously determined to make a good image of their pride and glory, be it the book, movie, and as it would seem - the score. Is it possible Twilight fans have read the review, created member accounts, and rated it highly just to improve the overall rating? There must be a way to determine what the ratings are that were given... I was the first to rate it, giving it two stars as I did in my review. How much would the overall rating be raised if a bunch of members each gave it five stars? Or, I suppose it's possible that these are regular members rating it... Whatever.

Twilight is some of the least interesting output i've heard by the composer the last few years, and as far as 2008 is concerned, it tremendously fails against BURN AFTER READING and IN BRUGES. If it wasn't for the hype of the movie, it would have gone even more under the radar.

Carter Burwell scores "THE BLIND SIDE"

Composer Carter Burwell continues his working relationship with director John Lee Hancock, whose previous features The Alamo and The Rookie both featured scores by the New York-based composer who is best known for his numerous scores for the films of the Coen brothers, and for last year’s score to the massive hit Twilight.

  8. Burwell has one score cue (and one song) up for samples for "A Serious Man" at his site. Both that one and "Where the Wild Things Are" have been moved to the regular list and no longer in "Works-In-Progress. No samples for WtWTA, though there is enough backstory on the score and what happened.
The views and opinions of Ford A. Thaxton are his own and do not necessarily reflect the ones of ANYONE else.
