Stavi, when is your boyfriend coming back from the army? smile

When it comes to me, something I did yesterday made my day. Yesterday I was on the uni, I am closing the year now, so there is a lot of underwhelming stuff with getting all the signatures and things like that.

A friend convinced me though to go support her friend on her MA thesis defense. I decided to go. There was another girl that was heavily stressed out, especially when the one we were with was having her exam.

I behave compulsively in such situations, so I came to her starting to calm her down and actually telling her to get in when she had doubts that she just won't go to her exam. I literally told her that if she doesn't go in, I will *push* her in. I tend to have successes at inspiring people in such things, usually they are too stressed out to think clearly and when they get in they actually pass, because it's just stress not lack of any knowledge. I don't know if she passed, I even learnt her name about halfway in the talk. But it feels good to sometimes be at least a bit inspiring to people.

  2. I am proud, partly because that's what a film director (my dream for 12-13 years) does. Calming down, telling to do this and that and being sure that it's the right thing. That's also one of the reasons why I like teaching so much (when I got my scholarship on the uni, this was the major reason why I got so happy to get paid for my Ph. D. studies, being happy about cash and the prestige of getting the money came somewhat later).

There have been some other positive developments in my life, more personally, of which I think I can basically tell that I think I started to work on myself and I started a process of getting rid of all my rationalizations and wrong thinking patterns, which influence a lot of things, from my relationship status (constantly single for 26 years and only one kiss, a few months ago, to happen) to not doing stuff at home and not doing anything about my dreams of half my life.

A friend of mine (the model guy who hosted the big birthday party last weekend) just called me up and gave me a nice surprise - he has one free ticket for the Al Green concert on the roof of the Norwegian Opera building tomorrow. Wow. The legendary Al Green. For free. VIP lounge too. Awesome. cool

I saw Al. I saw Green. I read Al Gore.
Wondered why the hell you'd want to see him sing (talk about pollution).
    Realized error of my ways.
    Logged off.
    Had some port.
    Went to bed.

He, he...Al GORE, now that would have been something. I think I've actually seen someone refer to Gore as Green (due to the "green" environment issues and so on) as a pun.

I think the only sense in which 'bugger' is a verb is "to penetrate the anus of (someone) during sexual intercourse; sodomize." (As the dictionary says. wink)

And I think the only sense in which it is used in the exclamatory is "Oh bugger!", for example

I could be wrong? I've just never heard it used like that.

I know the use of the term as you mention it Steven but again from a dicrtionary " the term is a general-purpose expletive, used to imply dissatisfaction, or used to describe someone or something whose behaviour is in some way displeasing". I wouldn't use it If I wasn't sure. You know I'm not to keen on sexual innuendos. We two have had a couple of misunderstandings over them! wink

Well, I, on the other hand, dear lady, have had copious amounts of port and gin & tonic, and I can most reliably inform you that not only has my patience grown quite infinitissiminimally, but my natural propensity towards a certain verbosity has quite in parallel expanded exponentially, with a noticeable slant towards not being able to propely finish any sentence in any coherent.

    Now.
    Then.

You know Martijn there is a certain bean from which they make a very tasty and useful substance named coffee! If you are able to make and drink some it will definately make tonight and most probably tomorrow a lot better. And then you will remember what we were talking about and explain to me as well what you mean.

It's an expletive in the sense that 'fuck' is, but its verb usage isn't 'to annoy' but rather the literal act of buggering. That's why...

If my hand wasn't buggering me

...doesn't make any sense. (It's like you've said "If my hand wasn't fucking me.")

You know I'm not to keen on sexual innuendos. We two have had a couple of misunderstandings over them! wink
