Exactly. I'd say that on a price / what you get ratio, they're actually better than iPhones.

  1. I was actually attracted to HTC because of their new Wildfire model - but you can't find them easily at the moment. But the Desire is a nice piece of kit (maybe a tad big in practical terms. I'll just have to wait and see).

It now needs its first big charge so I'll have to put it down for a bit. sad

You were at the hospital Tom? Since when? What happened?

The problem is taking 9 different medications at the same time. Plus I had a situation with a neighbor that has turned into a Fatal Attraction situation. No I didn't have sex with her or even dated her, no desire to have anything to do with a 63 year old virgin. For some reason she has other ideas. I've had it with Minnesota.

And there is a chance albiet a small one that I might get to attend the comic con convention in San Diego and meet some of the record companies. I know LaLa Land is going to be there for sure.

  3. I've been out of the job hunting market for 20 years and I've just sent off my first job application. It was a very difficult thing to do, putting together my CV and covering letter. But it's done and it's gone. We'll see how things go...

Just loads of good vibes your way, in hopes that all things work out for the best.

I'm sure that it will be better.

@ Bregt: I'm going to try and stay in the same area of work - I'd be throwing away 20+ years of experience if I went for something completely different. I may try for something more in the area of information/education rather than a lab-based job. Maybe something like medical writing.

I have a CV posted at a couple of job hunting sites (and I'm getting 2-3 enquiries a day with that), keeping an eye on ads online and in local papers, and I've had a couple of calls from ex-colleagues who work for competitors interested in talking to me. There's help from an "outsourcing consultancy" that I have access to for a time (part of the severance package).

I'm going to keep things at this level for 3 weeks, then go on our holiday to Skye and then at the beginning of September start hunting in earnest: sending out letters to places I'd like to work, etc.

    Hi Alan,

I just read about your job situation. It sucks that it went that way... but good that you're picking things up and something new will come up of course. We'll see where that will take you!

Looks like networking with ex-colleagues in the same field is a good thing, who knows which companies are interested in you and your expertise!

I wish you all the best and hopefully a nice and appropriate job will come up for you, that you will enjoy and where you can use your experience in. First enjoy your holiday and your time 'off', although it's not really time off, but in a way it is.

    kiss
