I was very curious about Revolutionary road about the story , but Sam Mendes did a great job, i dont think that the screenplay was powerfull enough but Mendes did his best with a direction that in sometimes reminded me American Beauty. The end truly is heartbreaking as BobdH said i
i loved the scene when Kate was in front of the window just standind there
I also loved the themes by Thomas Newman
i just love Sam Mendes work !!!! -

Revolutionary road.
I thought that's what you meant - I was reacting to your curious categorisation of the score. If I had a complaint then it was that it was over-familiar (essentially it's an extension of something like Cinderella Man) but I certainly didn't find it weak. -
- CommentTimeMar 12th 2009
No, Cinderella Man was SO much better.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

Every time I open this topic I hope for a new sound snippet from the new Star Trek score.
You guys really know how to make this waiting a nightmare. -

I wish they'd just go in another thread. -

Speaking of Thomas Newman, what would you say was your third favourite score by him which features the definite article in the title? I think I will have to go with The Good German. -

Speaking of going in another thread, take your Thomas Newman somewhere else! -
- CommentTimeMar 12th 2009
Newman's awesome. I love Thomas Newman. We should talk about Thomas Newman here. We should talk about Thomas Newman in every thread. All the time. -

Frak Thomas Newman.
(But his music is nice.) -
- CommentTimeMar 12th 2009
Imagine a Thomas Newman score for a Star Trek film. Now THAT could be interesting! -

2009 seems promising for Giacchino. Star Trek, Up, and Land of the Lost?
All of them seem like they could be great source material to work with. -
- CommentTimeMar 12th 2009
Newman WOULD be great. I would be more optimistic than with Giacchino. -

What about Ramin Djawadi?Kazoo -
- CommentTimeMar 12th 2009
Btw, Anthony, you certainly are allowed to create a new thread for the Star Trek score specifically. Who said you couldn't?Kazoo -

Ramin would be... interesting... but no, then I would prefer Giacchino. -

Excuse me? I think even Ramin would know that a Trek movie needs something more sophisticated than, for example, an Iron Man movie. But as I said, I would prefer Giacchino´s version (and you know how difficult this is for me). -

Really? I think Iron Man needed something more sophisticated. It's a film and every film deserves a good score/music no matter how unsophisticated that film may be. That's a code I'd live by if ever I became a film composer, at least.
For example, me and my coursemate have been asked to score a student film. We both think the film is a bit pretentious and lacks any real depth or well-used themes... but we both agree we will bust our nuts off to give it as good music as we can possibly create. -

There´s the problem, I think Iron Man had a score that fit the atmosphere perfectly.
And I know it wasn´t meant seriously, but Demetris´ reaction seemed... a bit more.
