I AM WETTING MY PANTS WITH THE THOUGHT OF THE JNH SCORE ONTOP OF THAT!

Actually, the music on top of that trailer IS James Newton Howard's.

Just watched the trailer. There are so many puns about flatulence swimming through my head I don't even know where to begin.

Oh well, I'm looking forward to the score.

Why? What's wrong with it for a film of this genre?

Well, nothing's wrong with anything for a film of this genre.
I just don't like this genre.
  1. I'm looking forward to The Last Airbender score too. It seems like a fun playground for James Newton Howard to work in and I think he'll do well. smile

Gosh, the trailer looks awesome. This is the kind of film that really suits JNH's style, IMO, the music (especially the ethnic woodwinds) sound terrific! Can't wait punk

I'm not familiar with the anime so I don't know the story, but the trailer is certainly very tempting!

Those ethnic woodwinds and percussion combined with classic JNH orchestral music remind me of some of the tracks in Mulan. Good sign! smile

when I think of Howard's most memorable, I'm talking Waterworld grandness
so I don't think it will reach that

But indeed, he has never failed on a Shyamalan movie, so I don't see it happening wink here

The Village and SIGNS are above anything he's written in his career, imo. Snow Falling on Cedars, Unbreakable, Lady in the water, Dinosaur, King Kong, The happening come next, imo. And of course the brilliantly dark choral-orchestral work that is The Devil's Advocate.

  6. For me, most of Howard's CDs contain a few top-notch cues but the CDs as a whole are quite variable. The only exception to this would be his score to Signs. (But some people would complain that that score sounds pretty similar all the way through and that if it's a sound that appeals then the whole CD is great from beginning to end!)

    Amen, bro!

As for the LAST AIRBENDER, it does look awfully cheesy, but I'll wait untill it's here before I pass judgement. All I know is that THE HAPPENING is one of the worst films of all time, so there is some cause for concern.
    I am extremely serious.
  8. Well, it's hard for "Signs" to reach "Waterworld" when "Waterworld" is so far below it. ;-)
