A little bit more info might be helpful: is it a long piece? Orchestral? Pop combo? synthesized? What instruments stand out? Is there a solo? If so, by what instrument(s)? Is it a slow piece? Up-tempo?

    I know it would!! crazy

    And that's what's infuriating!!

It was a single in the UK charts and I think that it made the Top 20 (so any sites that list all Top 20 singles for that decade would be nice!) I believe that it was synthesized - a bit like Hot Butter's "Popcorn" but it had a more "space age" feel about it: but wasn't sweeping but rather like what Jarre was releasing as singles from his "Oxygene" album. I think that the track I am looking for was before this.

That's the best I can do at the moment. sad

It could be something by Mike Oldfield, possibly? Or Rick Wakeman?
Both were big on instrumentals AND electronics.

I'm looking for a piece of music - but I have very little go on. And there's likely to be very few people who will be able to help.

It's NOT a film music piece, but is an instrumental "pop song" from sometime in the 1970s (I think). It made the charts in the UK and must have been around the same time as very early Jean Michel Jarre (Oxygene times). I've got this memory of an association with space somehow - maybe the track or band title (odyssey?) - but other than that, I'm stumped.

I can hear it in my head and I may be forced to find someone with an iPhone and that music-recognition app. But that doesn't help here.

I know it's very little to go on but by posting it here I feel that I'm at least trying all avenues...

    COULD THIS BE IT?

It came out in 1977 and was in the charts at the same time as Jarre's Oxygene.

I've been entering those Tuesday night pop quizzes on and off for a few years now, it's hard not to have an expanded knowledge of pop after all that time ( a lot of it unnecessary and unwanted wink ), the Space track I remember very well though, I even had ( have? ) the 45rpm single.

I had just listened to The Rah Band's "The Crunch" and convinced myself it was that. But, as soon as I heard "Magic Fly" I was happy.

If I'd been wrong this Mike Oldfield track would have been my next guess, I'm putting it here because I think it's a darn fine instrumental.

This clip is a bit embarrassing but needs must...

My son David asked me to identify the piece of music identified in the clip in the link below. The request being from David explains what the clip is - I'm only trying to have it identified.

    It's very familiar.

    The main link is http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc/nevaland/

If whoever ventures to this link could choose "clips" and then choose the clip that is the lowest one of the four on the left hand side of the main screen (i.e., the one with Nev drinking through a straw).

Thanks. And remember, it's not for me but my son!

Damn you, Tim! (see how quickly I can turn?)

I've not been able to get a hold of any Brahma from our local Tesco shop for a couple of weeks now and I've had to make so with Peroni Nastro Azzurro - nice, but not after having had Brahma.
    wink

We're just about to sit down to some Nachos and then chicken fajitas (with extra jalapenos) and some Brahma would have been nice!

  5. Here's one for you X-Ray Dog fans. Can anyone identify the track(s) used in a trailer for the film Hidalgo: La Historia Jamás Contada?

    Thanks in advance.

No idea? Sounds generic but I did like the short burst of percussion.

  6. When I was watching the original trailer the latter half of the music reminded me of something like the second Transformers movie score with that rhythmic choral bit. But seeing the "fan reconstruction" that I linked it seems it's the trailer people X-Ray Dog. But there's so much of their music around I've no idea of which track(s) the samples are from.
