OK. White is good. But why?
And what music do you play on the piano? -

Because I wanted it!
Not much really, I can plop out the odd melody on the piano, but I'm frustratingly meh. Probably one of the reasons I have so much respect for composers who can actually write something worthy. -

I'm a cellist (sounds so much posher than just saying "I play cello", doesn't it?
) . ABRSM Grade 6 but that was a while ago and I haven't bothered with the exams (or lessons) in the last three years so I'm probably a little rusty. I much prefer playing in orchestras/ensembles to solo performance anyway.
Just thought I'd throw that out there.

He does look a bit like a young Klaus Badelt, doesn't he?

Does he? I don't see it but I'm blind.
So, what about some John Williams:

Well! Vacation is keyboard time!
I was glad to find out I can still play Davy Jones and some of the other stuff I taught myself in Christmas vacation.
I am now practicing Transformers - Arrival to Earth which is fun. I also played the Silver melody from The Lone Ranger and I wish I knew what the chords are that go with it. I am also going to try Lovers from The House Of The Flying Daggers today.
I should learn musical notation some day... -

Bregje, tell me which key do you start with, I'll try to find the chords for you later.http://www.filmmusic.pl - Polish Film Music Review Website -

Funny you ask. I started with D and found two chords that matched that I know from the Lonely Mountain tune.
But then I put the track on and heard I play it too low, it should start in E. When I just move the two chords one step up it still sounds right but I'm not sure and I don't know the rest.
It would be really kind of you if you could help me out a bit thank you!
And I start the melody as heard at 1:45 into the track Silver. -

I started taking piano lessons. Yay! Will let you know when I can play some film music. I only got two lessons so far.
I noticed today that Lucrezia's theme by McCreary shouldn't be too hard for a beginner? Will ask my teacher. -

Well done Bregje! Piano is a wonderful instrument! Each time I play I forget everything that bothers me!Whatever you gaze rests on,do not use your vision, but the eyes of your soul...She knows better... -

Thanks Stavroula! Yes, it is a great way to relax and put things like work in the right perspective.
Drawing has the same effect. So that's what I started this september. Piano lessons and art lessons and now work seems only work to me and not my life or death.
Piano: I'm almost far enough to request music I like, said my teacher. But I send in some requests this week anyway
because I wondered if these are easy enough for me to play now: Lucrezia Donati (McCreary), Death Is My Heir (Korzeniowski) and Davy Jones (Zimmer). He didn't reply yet. I think because of autumn vacation. But we'll see next week.

My job has caused me a lot of stress the past year. There's less marketing budget, everything needs to be quicker and cheaper in web development and then there's AI which radically has changed my job in just the period of one year and will be having impact for the next years as well. Honestly, it is insane. It took over my spare time just thinking about it.
So, over summer, I decided to start something I was always a bit sorry of I didn't do earlier to get my thoughts on something else: learn an instrument. I chose the trumpet, with the idea that I really like brass bands, but not knowing it anything about it. I also need to learn about music itself (notes, rhythms, ...). So 3 hours a week I'm at school again. For the music theory I'm probably one of the oldest in the class (I'm just 40!) and for the practical lesson it is together with an 8 year old. Confronting. :D
However, after two months, I had to undergo a surgery in the beginning of December (removal of tonsils)/ I ad been sick since the beginning of November and thus was also unable to play trumpet. But trumpet (as any other instrument) needs dedication. So after two months not practicing, I lost my embouchure skills and got frustrated. My teacher and I decided to change to something that would focus less on the embouchure and more on the playing because I didn't progress anymore. So recently switched to euphonium which is a bit easier with the lips. The sound is really nice, a bit a mix between French horn and tuba, but still focusing on melody. I am enjoying it a lot more again. Practicing almost every day gives me a lot of joy.
Another reason was to get my kids enthusiast for music and perhaps, if I feel confident enough, play in a brass band. My daughter already noted she wants to learn violin (we'll see if that is indeed the case) and my son of 4 loves the tumpet.Kazoo -

Both our kids tried musical instruments when they were young. David got really interested in drums for a time. Even did some grading exams.
Rachel took up the cornet. And she got really good at one point, being one of the best in the region. Her practicing the theme from Titanic was magical.
But, for both, the teenage years intervened and they both lost interest.
David has taught himself electric guitar which he enjoys doing. The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -
