- discussion topic MICHAEL GIACCHINO
- Comment Sounds a lot like his Medal of Honor scores, which I think is a good thing, because the whole movie seems to have a WWII vibe going on. To be honest I don't think it's so important whether he nails Williams' sound or not... I think it's more important that he comes up with some good themes. Fingers ...

- discussion topic THOMAS BERGERSEN & NICK PHOENIX (Two Steps from Hell)
- Comment A very good album, I think. Thomas Bergersen is a great composer, but I think Nick Phoenix has outdone himself this time, with Fall of the Fountain World and Vanquish being some of my favorite tracks of the whole album. Bergersen's Enchantress and High C's takes the price, though :)

- discussion topic Cinematic Sound Radio - Latest Update: NATIONAL FILM SCORE DAY!
- Comment They are ALL excellent tracks! What I love about the two Dinosaur Fight cues is their "raw energy" (in lack of better words), especially Flying Dinosaur Fight With Guts... I mean 0:39 - 0:49, that's the coolest 10 seconds on the whole album, IMO :) But SO many great things to highlight ...

- Comment Agree with #1 and 2. I think Giacchino offers some of his best action scoring to date (the two "Flying Dinosaur Fight" tracks are INSANE!)... but Williams and Star Wars, you just can't beat that :)

- Comment Listened to the song yesterday... The strings part in the beginning was great (and actually gave my goosebumbs)... however the REST of the song is absolute SH*T! There is nothing memorable about the melody (although I'm sure I know it to death when the movie opens, because it's been played a ...

- Comment Going to New York for a week in mid-August. Never been to the US before, so definitely looking forward to that (although not the long flight). Will also attend the "John Williams Film Night" concert at Tanglewood - but sadly without John Williams! :( Was kinda the main reason for me to ...

- Comment "Battlecry" is a brilliant album, just as you have come to expect from TSFH. Just like you I favor the tracks from Bergersen, however I love Phoenix's "Stormkeeper"... so I actually DO think he is improving. Wish he wouldn't sing, though :) "Star Sky" is my favorite ...

- Comment Don't know if this has been discussed, but IMDB lists David Arnold as composer for the upcoming Independence Day sequel! Has this been officially confirmed? I saw Harald Kloser's name as a producer, so I naturally assumed he was going to do the score as well. Couldn't be happier, though, if David ...

- Comment I only have 20 CDs of his, but I just ordered another 5, including Wolf Totem. The first one I bought was Braveheart, which I rank as his best work. Still think he got robbed for that Oscar back in ´96. Who even remembers a single line of music from Il Postino??? :(

- Comment Yes he is, and for that I am also glad that I attended the concert. And like I said, I liked the filmmusic that was played. Just a little dissatisfied that they advertised the concert as a filmmusic concert, when there were only 3 pieces of filmmusic (although lengthy pieces) :)

- Comment Ok, went to the Michel Legrand concert yesterday. Turned out that, although advertised as a filmmusic concert, only the first part of it was music from his scores (and only 3 lenghty pieces/suites (Picasso Summer, Le Messager and Suite des Parapluies de Cherbourg)). The second part contained of ...

- Comment Congrats to Alexandre Desplat. I haven't heard the whole score yet, but I am listening to it on Spotify now. It sounds interesting, actually, and I can see it fitting perfectly into this weird Wes Anderson comedy (which I haven't seen). Would have loved Zimmer to win, but I can see why Desplat won. ...
