ENNIO MORRICONE (1928 - 2020)

So the concert was the same place as we saw the Lord of the Rings concert? Back then I was lucky enough to be only 3-4 rows back from the front of the stage. Unfortunately, that concert was also amplified and we were sat only feet away from one of the speakers! The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

Suddenly, someone scrolled a button and there it was: the bulge for example.
Yes.
That was quite embarrassing.

I wish I could agree, but I thnk that if it were me, about 10.351 years into it I might feel like putting something else on.
Anyway, I'm very jealous of everyone who attended the concert. Sounds like a great programme.

A BUGLE you mean?
While Battle of the Bulge was, if memory serves me well near Belgium (Ardennes), it wasn't, you know, throwing military trumpets at each other
(Actually it was total hell, as very well shown in Band of Brothers).http://www.filmmusic.pl - Polish Film Music Review Website -

The feeling of an artificial experience was amplified even more by the sound mixing, which was adjusted and readjusted constantly throughout the concert (even in the middle of tracks), which led to seeing -for example- a bugle player playing his heart out, with his effort actually only coming into audible play three bars later!
Yeah, that was rather unfortunate and happened a few times. You saw that the camera and the screen were focusing on a certain musician trying his/her best, but as a attendee you were often unable to hear the actual sound. Suddenly, someone scrolled a button and there it was: the bulge for example.
Possibly poor direction; the director (if they had one) should have had all the monitors in front of him, view the sources (cameras) and what they were showing, speak to them through intercom and whilst paying close attention to what the sound engineer was amplifying, turn the magical knobs in time; The sound engineer should also have direct intercom link with the director and also good view of the orchestra, either physical or via monitors. Did he even know / study the pieces in advances? If he didn't see who was playing and / or didn't have a musicologist next to him following sheet music and telling him in advance what was coming up (the solo parts etc), then the recipe for mix-ups is always the same in these cases, and sadly repeated.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

Yes, it seems there was perhaps a last minute replace or so, I don't know. it's not that bad but I think two or three times this happened. Otherwise it was no problem for me.
Did anyone record the concert? Apparently it was on OP12 yesterday (Belgian tv).Kazoo -

Damn, wish I had known. But in all honesty there are decent concert recordings of these pieces, so no big miss. -

Let me recommend this Morricone concert recording:

Since this was a German concert (indoors) and a German CD release it seems to be rather unknown elsewhere. I mho the best concert recording out there. All the credits are in German, even the film titles.Bach's music is vibrant and inspired. -

Tarantino, in other news, said he's quiting cinema after Django. I highly doubt he will. But he said he's sick of digital cinema, digital projectors and cameras; film is what he signed for originally and now the industry wants it dead.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

He also said during the filming of Django that he'll quit at sixty. I think that's more viable.
