    Merry Christmas - Phillipe Rombi

Really beautiful stuff. Rombi is a composer I'm happy to have recently discovered. I hope he goes far.

Couldn't agree more. What other Rombi scores do you have? Got Angel yet?

Yes, and I REALLY like it. More than Merry Christmas, I think. Those are the only two of Rombi's I have.

Maybe you should also try his lesser known scores which are - imo - of equal, or even better quality:

    5x2
    Jeux d'enfants
    ou, mais
Une hirondelle a fait le printemps and of course
    Sous le sable

A fine score. Playing the Joel McNeely recording, which I prefer to the original.

Really? I find the sax solo too 'in your face' compared to the original.

Still, it s very good though.

I liked this at first, went off it a bit, now I like it again. Am I turning into Nautilus?

    Any particular reason?

I liked it on my first listen and it's only been growing on me ever since, especially now that I've seen the movie (which I enjoyed more than Casino Royale). I can more than understand why a score of this nature would leave many disappointed, but it's exactly the kind of score I was expecting. And that's a good thing. (Although a stronger main theme wouldn't have gone amiss, or perhaps even reuse the You Know My Name theme since it directly follows on from the end scene in Casino Royale.)

I'm a sucker for Arnold's action writing, new and old.

What about the largest portion of the score which isn't action cues? I am genuinely asking 'cause i find it hard to believe that there are people who actually enjoy listening to mindless filler music, except if you don't pay attention to that until the rousing action cues come up or if you made your own playlist.

Well believe it, because I do. I play the whole album and enjoy the whole album.

CLASSIC score. Goldsmith's creativity during the 70s and early 80s (perhaps even peaking during the latter part of that 'era') was astounding, and this score is certainly one of the best.

If there was ever one composer who would be best suited to scoring dreams, Goldsmith would probably be my first choice (well, early-80s Goldsmith).

    The Final Conflict Jerry Goldsmith

...and then after this, Poltergeist. cool

One of my all time favourite scores.

    Sensual. Hypnotic.

Even being a softer score, the action tracks are some of the best cool action writting b Goldsmith.

Still playing TEMPLE OF DOOM EXPANDED! What a treat it is to hear the Mola Ram/Pankot Palace theme during the "The Scroll / To Pankot Palace" track. Spielberg is right... this is some of the best "Travel" music you will ever hear!

Additionally, some of the best mickey mousing of all time is in absolutely brilliant "Short Round Helps" action set piece. And the way Williams handles all of the themes is nothing but a stroke of genius!

And the ultimate goosebump moment (next to the utterly brilliant "Approaching The Stones") is the final statement of the Slave Children's theme played in full glory by full orchestra and chorus as the Sankara Stones blaze a hole in Indy's satchel.

"You Betrayed Shiva! Thum Shiva Ke Vishwasth Karthe Ho"

No words can really describe the awesomeness of that cue!

    NP Mercenaries 2 (Chris Tilton)

First proper listen and I like what I hear. Some parts could have been written by Giacchino himself but I don´t blame Tilton for it. Besides, the rest of the score is really good, I love the use of the percussion and spanish / electric guitar in tracks like "Jungle Brawl" (a highlight of the score by the way).

Edited just to add how great the "End Credits" cue is! punk

Well DEFIANCE is longer as an album in the first place, and isn't ordered very well. I can't imagine that the album will end with 'The Tank' the way the press kit version does. It's very bad album producing if it does. QOS on the other hand actually sounds like it might be story order, and I can imagine the story very clearly as I listen to it.

Just got the set in my mailbox and this album went promptly in my player. What a treat to finally have this score on CD, and in such pristine quality too! It's a shame that the fifth disc is housed in a flimsy cardboard case as opposed to the digipaks graced to the four main albums.

I forgot this was out this week. I still thought it was a few weeks away. But I think I'll put it off until Christmas as there's nothing else on my list, and I need something special. I know the more comments I read though the harder that wait will get!

    Hip-Hop-A-Roo!!!

NP: INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE (EXPANDED) - John Williams

I've placed all the cues in film order... that includes all of the bonus material on disc 5 and rearranging "Alarm!" so that it plays BEFORE "Scherzo For Motocycle and Orchestra." Who's stupid idea was to put Scherzo first?!?!?! Oh, right that same guy who left off a boat load of cues from all four scores that could have easily fit onto Disc 5. crazy

Anyway, I don't mind "On The Tank" not edited into "Belly of the steal Beast" While it would have been nice it does seem to work as a stand alone cue which has a fantastic Indy Theme opening!

The sound quality is much improved but I still HATE Dan Wallin's orchestral set up. Also, is it just me or do the brass and horns seem to be jumping around a lot in the mix. They are either panned closer to the left, dead centre or closer to the right throughout the playing time. How odd.

Anyway, it's great to finally have such gems as the latter half of Indy's Very First Adventure, The Boat Scene, Journey To Austria, The Blimp Turns Around, On The Tank, and Wrong Choice, Right Choice on CD for the very first time!

How many cues are roughly missing from each score then (not counting Kingdom)?

I don't know the score to Temple at all well, but I'm just hoping that really warm rendition of the villagers theme when Indy and Short Round are sitting on that hill near the beginning is there. *fingers crossed*

Don't call Jewish music Hebrew biggrin

The tradition of music that we know as the so-called klezmer music is actually more connected to Yiddish-speaking community, since Hebrew as a language was dead for almost 2000 years...

I think we mean the theme from Swamp, for example the violin/clarinet one. Not the source music.
