Something ironic here about auto-piloting scoring when the composer himself can't tell the difference between 2 scores he wrote himself..

Well, if you want to get a composer that can do an competent job of writing for the orchestra while bringing back the sensibilities, themes and motifs from the original Predator film then look no further than John Debney. This is where temp-trackitis is most welcome!

John Debney is a frequent collaborator of Robert Rodriguez. Robert Rodriguez is producing the film.

    Ah, righto.

Still, shame Silvestri didn't do it. Debney's a competent choice though.

I can also imagine the filmmakers want something different, and Silvestri doesn't want to repeat himself with a reboot.

Thanks God there are composers like Hans Zimmer, who give us AIR between so many composers trying to do BIG scores with 10000000 pieces of Orchestra.

I don't want to say it's bad, but after listening IM2 (wich ironically is the only one of them wich I find at least 2 tracks with an inspired use of his main themes) , Sands of Time, Last Airbender, and the clips from A-team and Predators I can't find nothing special in this action scoring. Goldsmith didn't need so many FIREWORKS to score a chase!

This clip from Predators could have been from AVP requiem...

I want Zimmer crazy mind (with all his weakness included ) right now!

Or perhaps I'm not in the mood after so many Morricone scores in my blood. Who knows..

Clean your ears out! This is a perfect homage to Silvestri's original scores which featured full symphony orchestra's. Just listen to the end credits to Predator 2. That's appropriately big and competently written!

If the rest of the score is like that, then we have a clear Debney winner here, which i believe we didn't get since LAIR.

He'll probably have good reason to to be fair. I reckon this will be a score that would work well in 40 or even 30 minute form. (Although you never know, hopefully 70 minutes is just right. Hopefully I'm wrong. I just remain... doubtful.)
  2. Wow, I'm excited about this... a homage to Silvestri's Predator??? punk

I've been craving for something like that since Predator 2 ended the series. And musically there are no other related spin-offs (AvP don't count).

Debney can still tackle big epic action, Lair and even The Mummy 3 to some extent have proven that.

wow, sounds pretty good, hopefully Debney can continue to bring the Silvestri trademarks in there, without forgetting his own thematic powerhouse voice
    waaaaaahhhhhhhh!!! Where's my nut? arrrghhhhhhh
  4. Debney has his own voice?
  5. Good question biggrin

I think he actually does, Passion and, actually, The Stoning of Soraya M. show that. (I love Soraya)
