    LARGO WINCH II

    Music Composed by
    Alexandre Desplat
(Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows, The King’s Speech, The Queen)

Following his adoptive father's death, Largo Winch (Tomer Sisley) finds himself the director of the W Group. To everyone's surprise, he decides to sell the company and create an ambitious humanitarian foundation. But the day the sale is to be finalized, he's accused of crimes against humanity by a mysterious witness. To prove his innocence, Largo must retrace his past life, in the heart of the Burmese jungle.

Alexandre Desplat (The King’s Speech) composes an exciting second chapter to his original Largo Winch score, capturing the thrill and intrigue of this James Bond-ian adventure.

LARGO WINCH II will begin an international rollout starting in France on February 16.

  1. Wonderful. I love the first Largo Winch score. I hope that Desplat has brough the themes from the first score (especially the childhood theme which sounds in Chosen One)

I hope this is better than the samples on the movie website.

    Samples from Largo Winch II.

The action music is definitely stronger than the first, but I have a horrible feeling we aren't going to hear any of those fantastic themes again.
  2. So, Desplat has won 3 IFMCA Awards, including Composer of the Year, Best Score for a Drama Film (The King's Speech), and Best Score for an Action/Adventure/Thriller (The Ghost Writer).

    Well done. beer
  3. I wish that The Ghost Writer and Deathly Hallows can get more recognition than The King's Speech which is wonderful, but the other two are better.

Awards seemed to be biased to choose scores that accompany already-critically-approved films.
I love you all. Never change. Well, unless you want to!

Imagine how many awards Brokeback Mountain's score would have received if it was written for a porn film.

Ok, they listed it kinda wrong, but at least this confirms a soundtrack CD release for THE TREE OF LIFE by Alexandre Desplat on May 24. Finally.

This being by far my most anticipated film of the year, I can't wait to hear what he wrote. Kinda hope he gave in to long tracks, though, since that fits Malick's style best.
  5. Yes!! biggrin
  6. I've watched a little bit of Largo Winch 2 (it's really hard to find on the web, and it's in french), and it seems like they tracked music from the first film. Cues like Largo Winch and The W Building are there.

But the cues Largo Virtuoso and Infiltration are amazing in the film (the first one is for a car chase which was showed at the trailer).

Really looking forward to this one. The movie seems like a perfect match to Desplat's style of scoring

And yes, good news! The tracklist has been revealed on the Lakeshore official website, and although there are no tracktimes yet, it's a good sign that there're only 13 tracks! (so no 30+ tracks horror, as with a lot of Desplat's albums).

EDIT: Tacktimes are up, and it's exactly what I was hoping for! Can't wait for this release! punk

    1. Childhood (3:41)
    2. Circles (11:23)
    3. Clouds (2:59)
    4. River (3:35)
    5. Awakening (3:29)
    6. Emergence of Life (3:55)
    7. Light & Darkness (8:17)
    8. Good & Evil (3:15)
    9. Motherhood (2:04)
    10. City of Glass (3:36)
    11. Fatherhood (2:49)
    12. Temptation (6:47)

Good news: the clips sound really good.

Bad news: no release date for the movie in Spain yet crazy
Anything with an orchestra or with a choir....at some point will reach you
  7. Loving the samples, but given that many of the tracks are over five minutes long, it's impossible to really have an opinion about this yet.

The score as a whole suggests that earlier score to me. Being a fan of that score in particular, that's not a bad thing to me.
'Circles' gives a hint of this 'trance music' he's referred to at times.

For those who live in Europe (although only confirmed by myself in the Netherlands, and people living in the UK), Desplat's score for The Tree of Life is already available for purchase through iTunes!
