NP: The Sims 3 - Steve Jablonsky

So strange. It's like old-school Jablonsky (Steamboy) meets old-school Elfman.
I love you all. Never change. Well, unless you want to!
  1. Umm, isn't it Dooley?

It's Jablonsky (although, except for some of the obvious Jablonsky-isms, I can totally imagine Dooley writing it. How strange that these two composers would be confused! wink)

Dooley's recent video-game effort is Infamous which I have yet to purchase.

Without a doubt in my mind, the absolute 100% best score Powell has brought to the table and it's fan-friggin-tastic! It's blasphemy that the whole Goa chase music was left off the album, but what you get is still an almost perfect 45 minutes of music. cool

    More pls!

As in his best score ever? I find it very hard to make such a committed opinion, but it's certainly been redonkulously influential.

Aside from Paycheck which puts up some serious competition, I have to say yes.

I think it is, so far at least; it contains ALL the elements that make Powell so special , in perfect quantity, analogies and balance. Whilst he might overdo it with some of the stuff he writes in some scores, this one here (and Paycheck, and UNITED 93 in a wholly different league) is perfect.

I was hoping that Trevor Morris would have done Sims 3. His electronica score to Sims Society was way better than Jablonsky mickey mousing effort.

As for Beethoven, the only music not written by Edelman is the famous moment when Beethoven's name is picked wink , that cute piano melody is 100% Edelman

it really is a nice score smile

I actually saw the movie as a fan of animation (as well as a score lover) and found that the music was quite effective. Very much rock and roll, and completely un-ironic in its cheesy application. There's a promo that's floating around the intarweb that seems to be legit.

I watched it some months ago, and have to say that there was enough material for a score release. Really good themes.

I'm looking at the promo now and it seems ready for released. Long cues, and short cues, all well arranged like a proper album, unlike the typical bootlegs. This might be one of those case where the album never got a distributor and floated around from one company to another?
