BACKDRAFT's sound is SO 90's. Can you imagine that in a film, today?
Well, Zimmer went back in time when he composed his score to Angels and Demons and no one seemed to care. Backdraft is bloody brilliant and still sounds like something Zimmer could accomplish today.

just like I said in my review

I think it'd be slightly better orchestrated though or recorded at least

Backdraft... slightly BETTER orchestrated?! My God, I'd hate to hear how Backdraft would have turned out if Shirley Walker wasn't involved.

It's not a case of the orchestrator, but some arrangement mistakes on Zimmer's sidehttp://www.filmmusic.pl - Polish Film Music Review Website -

The only problem I have with Backdraft, the soundtrack album is way too short. Half an hour score for a 2 hour film... Criminal !!!"considering I've seen an enormous debate here about The Amazing Spider-Man and the ones who love it, and the ones who hate it, I feel myself obliged to say: TASTE DIFFERS, DEAL WITH IT" - Thomas G. -

(IMHO, Zimmer has been stuck in the 90's with his out of date collection of synths)
-Erik-
That has some truth in it indeed
Except Black Hawk Down, Tears of the Sun, Dark Knight and, I think, Angels and Demons (which is stuck in the 80s
)
Late 70s, I think. I wonder if Mike Oldfield was paid the royalties he deserves for it. -

It's plenty long enough for me. Still one of Zimmer's better albums, I think. -

I love Black Hawk Down (on album - not in the film). As Pawel thought, I was actually referring to the rip-off fest that is Angels and Demons. -

If he went away there wouldn't be a 160bpm.

No. Only if they also copy the whole of the piece - melody, harmony - like Zimmer did.
