Jungles are bloody fantastic!
Thing is that in nature show they take the effort to seek these creeps out.
In real life, they run as soon as anyone comes stomping in from 100 meters distance.'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn -

Many of the ones in the show (including the largest spider of all time!) wandered into their camp at night to pay them a visit, crawled into their sleeping bags etc. -

Out of context, i admit. But everything i have heard from Beal was a bad experience for me, not only Carnivale.
I think most television music only seems to work for people who have viewed the show. Look at the difference of opinion regarding Giacchino's Lost scores between those who watch it and those who don't. I thought McCreary's Battlestar Galactica music was absolute garbage until I saw the show, and it doesn't seem so bad now. -

Exactly. Which is why I always speak out against judging a score out of context. Film music is written for the film it accompanies, and as such can be better understood (and, possibly enjoyed), if the context is well known. Film music almost always makes a better listen after one sees the movie (or, in this case, series) that is was written for. -

There are scores however that benefit from an own musicality and stand-out value outside the medium they were written for too; very few do it but still...Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -
- CommentTimeAug 19th 2008
Possibly. Must be scores for Burton movies... -
- CommentTimeAug 19th 2008
I think if you're talking about an album then it's perfectly fine to judge it as an album. With film scores, it doesn't seem to be the case nearly so often that I need to watch the film to help me enjoy the score - probably because most film music is simply better music than most television music. -

Just got back from seeing The Clone Wars for the second time. I must say, I didn't enjoy it nearly as much this time as I did the first time, but it's still a pretty good film, IMO. -

Only us Star Wars snobs mind you. We can't be doing with CGI in a Star Wars film, let alone a fully CGI one!? Heavens above. -

Word
Talking of CGI etc, I was watching a program ( promo more like ) about the making of HELLBOY 2 : THE GOLDEN ARMY and was really impressed by the amount of animatronics used with CGI kept to a minimum. Looks great and I've got to see it!

Believe it or not, not all Star Wars fans hold that view. In fact, there are quite a few who love The Clone Wars, and can hardly wait for the October 3rd premiere of the new TV series. And I assure you, my Tivo will be all up and ready for October 3rd. -
