Not only is impossible due to agenda problems (look at the names you've proposed) but it would be going against the festival. Imagine that the lineup you've mentioned was the 2010 lineup. That would be setting the bar too high for the next edition.

If they don't get a cent then why not raise the bar?

Great discoveries come out from those small spanish and foreign composers you've mentioned. Some truly great music, from all festivals around.

Indeed. Dario Marianelli was a total stranger to me until I met him in Soncinemad 2006. Just to name one. Same goes for a lot of composers I've discovered in Úbeda.

Dario got a huge boost out of Soncinemad and i am glad! Same goes for Navarette, an excellent composer.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.

Because eventually you'd ran out of big names. If you bring 5/6/7 top ten composers one year and 5/6/7 top ten composers the next one, failure is close. Big names have to be regulated. Not to mention the impressive (and probably unsuccessful) effort trying to bring them all and the pre-production chaos. Trust me, it's no easy to bring big names (I'm still amazed what those guys have achieved by bringing to Úbeda people like Poledouris, Giacchino, Debney, Doyle, Arnold, Powell, etc...).

I'm not going unless John Williams, Danny Elfman and Elliot Goldenthal are all present and have dinner with me as special honorary guest. I also expect lots of naked ladies and free booze.
    I am extremely serious.

I second this motion and I demand that a special French horn fanfare composed and conducted by John Barry to open the event.

Very much looking forward to Lennertz' work!
I just need to pick up "Meet the Spartans" (film was fu*** awul, but the score seems to be really fun).

Yes, I will be in Ubeda again. Last year was fabulous! Couldn't let this pass!

I don't really know Lennertz' work, but this is another reason why I'm so much looking forward to the coming days in Ubeda. As long as there are Lennertz CDs I will have a listen and a shopping run... biggrin

The rooms of some of the hotels in Úbeda are already sold out. Seems we are gonna be, once again, a good bunch of movie music geeks punk

Envy. When is this festival going to be re-located somewhere which isn't exactly in the middle of nowhere? Never you say? :sigh: I know it's a charming old village etc but it's also preventing many people from attending.

Well, the core of the organisation is from Úbeda, so I find it difficult (if not impossible) to re-locate the festival. Besides, everything is more expensive in a bigger city, etc. You should try someday though, you might become addicted! wink

I know, i am allergic to travelling via buses and cars i don't drive in remote, unknown locations. I want to board a plane, step off, and move in that very city or somewhere nearby to the airport. Madrid, for instance, was a great and very easy experience for me,

Ditto. Being blunt, Ubeda is a pain in the ass to get to.

Nah, I can think of a lot of places I'd rather have it. I can't say there's any "charm" about trekking 400 miles into the middle of boiling hot nowhere to a town with nothing to do other than the festival. It just leaves you exhausted.

I wouldn't change Úbeda for Barcelona, for instance.

The biggest problem is the distance. If I lived nearby problem solved. wink
