WOOHOO, that Closure Concert came out of nowhere, but that's FANTASTIC! The Godfather! The Incredibles! Amelie! Independence Day! AWESOME!
Of course, the North tributes, the Scott parts, UP, DragonHeart... all great as well, but I already knew those. This new extra part surprises and is VERY welcome!

Yes... hadn't seen that comment yet when I was typing... hmm. Let's find consolation in the fact that it's probably a very young orchestra, one with children where you'll applaud even Father Jacob simply because they are so darn young and missing a few beats on the atonal LOST writing is so cute for even attempting it.
No, I do not want to hear these children are extremely gifted and driven! I will not have it! I will leave Ubeda with the sense that we're not missing anything!

I forgot to mention the closure concert in my posts, my bad. Although it is not an official event of the festival, it is really nice to see such young people performing movie music!

Well, as I said, it is not a professional orchestra, and there is a lot of young people in it. This concert is like a bonus track of the festival. Still, I was quite impressed last year when I heard the Lost suite they performed. Don't worry though, you'll have more than enough film musiuc with the rest of the concerts. As I said, the closure concert is a bonus track.Anything with an orchestra or with a choir....at some point will reach you -

I wasn't coming to the True Blood concert, as I've never watched the show nor heard the music, but I heard some samples of what they are gonna play and was quite pleased (and they were synth samples!).Anything with an orchestra or with a choir....at some point will reach you -

For Jordi to come without hesitation the line-up of the festival should be something like that: John Williams - James Horner - Hans Zimmer - James Newton Howard - Jerry Goldsmith - David Arnold - John Powell.

For the one or two really good composers they get each year there are still a lot of small Spanish or foreign composers I've never heard of. Nothing against them, it's just a bit odd.
A Silvestri/JNH/Horner/Zimmer/Arnold/Powell/Giacchino/Elfman/Desplat/Shearmur event would be awesome. -

...and rather more expensive, I'm guessing.
I'm pretty sure some of the subsidies and grants the Ubéda festival receives are earmarked towards representing/promoting national, or indeed local culture. So a certain Hispanocentric attitude is no less than to be expected!'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn -

That would be simply impossible! Not because of the money, as all guests, all of them, come totally for free. The only people that receive a paycheck in Úbeda is the orchestra (and choir). The rest of the guests go to Úbeda just because they want to come. Not a single composer / guest has earned an euro (or a dollar) in its past five editions. Besides, it IS impossible to bring every year 5/6 top composers! Not only is impossible due to agenda problems (look at the names you've proposed) but it would be going against the festival. Imagine that the lineup you've mentioned was the 2010 lineup. That would be setting the bar too high for the next edition.

Again, impossible to bring 5/6 top composers in the same year.
Take a look at the previous 'non top ten' guests of the festival: PHILIPPE ROMBI, WATARU HOKOYAMA, CLAUDIO SIMONETTI, FERNANDO VELÁZQUEZ, CARLES CASES, ROQUE BAÑOS, PASCAL GAIGNE, BRUNO COULAIS, OSCAR ARAUJO, MARC VAÍLLO, ÁNGEL ILLARRAMENDI.... not small composers at all!Anything with an orchestra or with a choir....at some point will reach you -

Great discoveries come out from those small spanish and foreign composers you've mentioned. Some truly great music, from all festivals around.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

Indeed. Dario Marianelli was a total stranger to me until I met him in Soncinemad 2006. Just to name one. Same goes for a lot of composers I've discovered in Úbeda.Anything with an orchestra or with a choir....at some point will reach you
