Extensive interview with Clinton Shorter about District 9, with focus on the solists/musicians too:
    http://www.musicfromthemovies.com/index … &id=66

It's on the new Music From The Movies website.

What was the general consensus about this score around here? I remember D added it to his list of favourites? I for one really liked the movie. A real cool action flick, with an original premise, and also a bit a sense of criticism on the subject of integration, immigration and morals.

I can't remember much of the music, but I absolutely LOVE the film. Not only the whole Apartheid commentary, which is pretty obvious to everyone, but some basic questions of morality, empathy, character development and identification.
    I am extremely serious.

The music is one of the best scores this year, synth pads and organic instruments blend excellently in this middle-eastern, emotional gem.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.

Really? Wow! I found it completely forgettable and generic. A few interesting ideas but nothing much else.

    What Erik said.

Didn't think much of the score at all but I thought the film was very good.

Just how many different awards are there in Hollywood? These people must be spending more time in different award ceremonies than at work...

Each score - for me - is a worthy winner!

I knew there was an iTunes release. There is a CD? Is it just the same content or is there more on it?

  4. Interesting. I have the score by Marco Frisina. And this inspired me to order "The Last Days of Pompeji" by Angelo Lavagnino.

    Volker
Bach's music is vibrant and inspired.

Yes, it always adds a bit of danger to the proceedings. And ash.

His name gives me immediate associations to jazz and saxophone -- probably because he shares a last name with Wayne Shorter and a first name with ol' president Clinton (who also played the sax reasonably well)

Not something that surprises me; Discrict 9 was amazing, but the scores he put out after that weren't even close to that level; shame. Let's hear this one which is , supposedly, on more epic grounds (the movie i mean).
