Gotta keep it running, to properly digest it all. It's certainly no OCEANIC (his last great album), but I'm enjoying it more and more.I am extremely serious. -

Simon & Garfunkel: The Concert in Central Park (1981)
Beneficial concert for the park's maintenance. The reunion concert found an audience of halve a million. Of special note is the outstanding combo they played with that night.
Paul Simon turns 75 today.

NP: HYDRA (Toto)
Everyone likes to hate on Toto, and I've never quite understood why. Personally, I've always felt drawn to "skilled people rock and pop" than all that quirky, folksy, noisy stuff (when everyone was listening to grunge in the 90s, I was knee-deep in prog rock and art rock from yesteryear). But I've never really explored their work beyond the obvious hits. So I've started going through their discography from the beginning. On their second album now. I like it!I am extremely serious. -

NP: Hurry Up, We Are Dreaming (2011) - M83
On Spotyfi. Many moments to delight the electronica connoisseur. But there is a little much of that oll out bombast, or isn't it? Since the latter halve of "Outro" was used as trailer music in "Eddie the Eagle" (or some unauthorised rip off of it) the music is everywhere here in Germany.

While I have at least four versions the one I return to most is the Chandos 3 CD set of his film music. That way I can make an afternoon of listening to his great music (3.5 hours). It is Rumon Gamba and the BBC Philharmonic. I also have bourenmouth/bakels, haitink /london, boult/ london. I'm partial to Boult as you know Timmer. No one interprets like he does.

I understand you two perfectly.
I sometimes don't get Justin's sense of humour. And sometime I don't get Thor's Friday night remarks and observations.
Everything else on this board is clear and crisp.

I've now gone to the second CD of the Vaughan Williams set which includes 49th Parallel, The Dim Little Island, and The England of Elizabeth, all premiere recordings.
A good investment Volker, Thor, Bregt, and others.

Hickox is the best version of all. It's sad that he never got to complete his RVW cycle with symphony # 7 'Antarctica', I'd have loved to hear his take.On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

I dug out of my archives an lp transfer of the Adrian Boult/London Philharmonic of Sinfonia Antarctica. There is no doubt that this is the finest recording ever. The recording, conducting of Boult, and the performance of the London Symphony make this a must have recording for your collection. Boult and his magic baton bring so much life to this recording.listen to more classical music! -
