If you notice me renaming themes on the big list don't worry - I'm just trying to clarify everything as much as possible. I've pretty much convinced myself that "Parting Words" introduces two themes - one for the survivors, and one for departing the island. I've now renamed the main theme to "Lost Main Theme" rather than "Lost/Survivor's Theme", and have split "Parting Words" into the two themes (listed under Exodus Part 1). I've also added the "Hurley's Handouts" extension of the survivors theme to season 2.

I am......Lost with so many themes. Sorry, I couldn´t resist shame shame

There's still a lot of stuff I've never noticed before. I rekon we'll be pretty close to the 50 mark by the end of the series.

Wow, I didnt know that the 5th season starts 1/1/2009. I thought we would have to wait until february.

What a weird date to start the season though.

Take a listen. This is from season 2 episode8 (Collision). The more I listen to it the more I think it's just a very early variation of Ana Lucia's theme, but does anyone else hear the basic framework for Ben's theme in it too?

Btw, Giacchino says on the season 4 DVD extras that he hopes to package up the Lost Symphony so it can be performed all over the world. smile

The clips of the performance in Hawaii sound very strange though. I think the Lost music benefits by just being performed by strings, percussion and four trombones.

The season 2 breakdown is done! beer punk

While it didn't contain as many new themes and motifs as season 1 (11 less), at least we got some great things like The Swan motif, Hurley's dramatic theme, the Survivor's Theme extension (Hurley's Handouts!), the staggeringly good theme for Rose and Bernard, and most importantly Desmond and Ben's themes.

    Err...enjoy. smile

(Btw, is anyone actually still following this at all? Shall I give myself a days break and then start on season 3?)

    You are the man! punk

I´d give myself a break though, I mean not only rewatching the whole seasons but paying attention to all the themes, subthemes and motifs? This is HUGE! And there are still two more seasons. Take a little break wink

I could always do with someone watching a few episodes behind me to make sure I'm not spotting things laterdown the line, after they have been introduced. But I guess I should have said that when I started. rolleyes biggrin

    Season 3 starts Thursday!

(Who can hold off on Jack's theme, Juliet's theme and the french horn stuff for the Hydra...speaking of which, I can't think of ANYTHING else to come from season 3, even though it's the most musically sound season. angelic)

I'm very tempted to buy the Lost season 4 boxset as I haven't seen it yet, but I really shouldn't spend the money. But that never seems to stop me... sad

Just kidding wink Seriously, is that something that actually stands in colloquial English? I wasn't aware of the not-so-positive sub-meanings of "mate". I know it can be used when you don't actually give a fudge for someone, like "give me a break, mate" or "fudge off mate" but i was under the impression that it can carry a more positive side as well wink

Then, you should. You could ask for more opinions of course but imo SEASON 4 was simply mind blowing. Great music, tension and lots of answers.

No not-so-positive sub-meanings at all actually, they effectively share the same meaning. Though 'friend', IMO, tends to carry a "deeper" meaning to it, whereas 'mate' is a more general, informal word.

It just didn't look right for someone that size to be holding a tiny pistol with a silencer attached (and it didn't really look like he knew how to handle it). biggrin

Anyway, the madness that is season 3 begins! cool
