I'm sorry guys but I don't agree on this. I think seasons 4 and 5 have both been great. Season 5 has taken a completely different direction than we are used to (ie. no more flashbacks and flashforwards) but we are finally getting some answers!
As for 316, why it's intact, how it came to land and all that, we still don't know, so I cannot have an opinion on how stupid that crash was or not!
And on Charlotte: Christodoulides, which evil Dharma guy do you mean? The Asian guy? Cause he had a son, plus both him and his wife were Asian. If anything, I would say that Miles is the son of Dr Marvin Candle. [Also, remember how Miles was the second to start bleeding after Charlotte? That means he was also on the island before.]
Or are you referring to Hanso or Widmore as the possible fathers of Charlotte? I dunno about the father but for possible mothers (especially since the mother seemed to be the key-figure in her life and her name was never revealed), I would lean towards Annie at this stage. If I remember correctly, Annie was blonde / redhead, wasn't she? -

The Asian one...i forgot the boy was a son (are you sure about this? did they call the baby's name?) and from what i remember from the woman lying next to him, the wife wasn't asian.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

As for the crash, IF THEY CLEAR IT UP and give some adequate explanations like they did with the first crash, then ok but if they leave it as it is, it's plainly stupid and it's underestimating the audience's intelligence.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

Season 4 is amazing. Season 5 is sloppy. I want to like it, but it keeps going way off the goony-crap-o-meter. -

There was another video released prior to Season 5, involving Dr Candle. I will not say what it was as it is probably an event that will feature later on in the season. But at one point the baby was crying and I remember Candle saying "Take him inside" or something. But I distinctly remember that the baby was a "him". I am not sure if the baby's sex has been revealed through Season 5 yet or not. The baby was definitely not mentioned. But I will place my bets on Miles right now.
Are you sure the woman wasn't Asian? I remember that she gave me the impression she looked very similar to Sun... -

Either way, basic evidence would point to it being Miles. -

Anyone seen episode 5x8 yet? (BEWARE SPOILERS!)
So whole time thing on the main island has been cleared out. As most of us in here guessed, Locke put the wheel back in place, the time flashes stopped, the Losties got stuck in the 1970s and became members of the Dharma.
On Horace and Amy's baby: Come on people, place your bets! Who is the boy? Personally, I think it's Ceasar (the passenger of flight 316). Amy had a caesarian. Makes sense to me!
On Sawyer and Juliet: Well, I kinda saw it coming... But have we shifted from a triangle to a rectangle now? Are we not done yet with those four? Just hook up Kate with Jack and Juliet with Sawyer and let that be the end of it! Or let them swap wives every week or so. Or even have an orgy! Little do we care!
On Daniel: Where is he in 1977? Is he still on the island or has he left? Maybe he left so he wouldn't see Charlotte every day. Could he have gone off the island to build the pendulum at the Lamp Post?
On Amy and Horace: Well, we know that Horace is meant to be married to a woman named Olivia. Does this mean that Amy leaves him and possibly even leaves the island? (Which could explain why Ceasar is off the island - if Ceasar is the boy).
On the Others: Why did they need Paul's body? And also, we keep seeing two faces of the Others. One where they attack and kill people, and one where they help and are the "good guys". Richard definitely seems like the good guy to me. Why doesn't he get rid of the "bad apples" then or why did he ever agree to the purge?
On Ben, his father, Dr Candle and his son: They haven't been shown in 1977 but we know that they should be around somewhere. I wonder how Juliet or Sawyer reacted when coming across a 10-year old Ben.
On the statue: What the hell?
On Rose, Bernard and Vincent: We know they have been traveling in time as well. But where are they? It's been 3 years and either Dharma or the Others would have come across them at some point, wouldn't they? Unless they are dead...
And on a sidenote: Pleasant addition of Reiko Aylesworth to the cast!
Also, 5x9 airs in 2 weeks' time! :S -

Fantastic Episode! Touching, setting the characters, a great move to beggin to explain things without losing the main characters in the screen.

How can a show take such a nosedive like this?! Once again, absolute nonsense.

I think what frustrates me more is how hardly anyone else (can be bothered) to vent their frustration on this season. It's lazy, sloppy and way below-par writing. I want to slap the writers for this because no matter how many "fans" say they love it, THIS SEASON IS GARBAGE. Just everyone that doesn't like it gets drowned out by the suck-ups or just doesn't bother stating their opinion.
My big-ass rant over at Lostpedia. -

24 has it's ups and downs. Some episodes this season have really bugged me while some have been the best 24 we've ever had. I think we've all accepted the fact I probably won't like a Powell score on initial release, but a few weeks down the line I'll be in love with it. Lost however started off this season badly and unfortunately has gone down hill. -

Jordi,
Liking someone / something doesn't mean you're a blindfolded biased one who loves everything they throw at you just because of their source. Being as objective as possible is crucial and when you love someone, that's where you are their strongest critic.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

I watched 24 until season 5. That was the last season I watched since (in my opinion) the show died when Tony, Michelle and Palmer died and Jack was brought to the level of Superman.
Now, coming to Lost, personally I like season 5 so far. First of all, it's clearing some things up. Second of all, it's moving fast. Really fast. No more pointless wonderings through the jungle. Sure, the new direction (ie. no flashbacks/forwards) does need some getting used to. And it has lost on some elements, eg. the element of surprise is not as strong anymore I feel. And sure, some things do bug me, like the Jack - Kate - Sawyer - Juliet rectangle (which has been there since Day 1 btw).
I'm sorry but not everyone thinks that this season is garbage or nonsense. I don't see how this season has crossed the line anw, compared to other seasons. Miraculous cures, plane crashing and people not dying, events that leave you with a bunch of questions - this has always been the case in Lost. It didn't simply go from one genre of series to another. Perhaps you can explain more on why you hate this season so much? -

Honestly, I don´t know. But first of all, we should know who/what is Cabin Christian. Is he Jacob´s pawn/messenger? Did he ressurrected (as Locke) when the first plane crashed and Jacob is using him? Or he is dead and it is like a ghost? And the main question: what does he do with Claire in the cabin? Hmmm....Anything with an orchestra or with a choir....at some point will reach you -

I'm sure they'll come around to explaining the 316 crash/landing. Personally it's not one of my biggest questions. The Others, Jacob, why they kidnap certain people, Widmore Vs Ben, why Walt was special, Richard, the monster, the ruins of the temple, the Egyptian statue... These are bigger issues than how 316 came to land or whether Kate will hook up with Jack or Sawyer or both!
Now Locke's resurrection... Don't tell me you hadn't seen it coming! I think it falls in the category of other unexplained "miracles" such as: Locke's paralysis, Rose's cancer's cure, Rachel's cancer's cure, Mikhail's persistent survival, why Desmond wasn't killed after the hatch exploded (and Mr Eko and John) and finally why on earth a few people survived with minor scratches after such a horrible crash of the 815 flight.
I think Jacob is a spirit of some sort... Perhaps a person who died or a person who "went" from one state of existence to another. A few posts back I suggested that perhaps all of the people who crashed on the island are in fact dead or in a state between life and death, in another plane of existence if you want. Those whose purpose is fulfilled (Boone, Shannon, Mr Eko, Charlie, Ana Lucia, Libby, Michael, Nikki, Paolo, maybe even Claire?) "die" or move on. Those who still have unresolved issues or those who still have a destiny to fulfill, seem to still be "alive" and exist. But what if they are not? What if this is an illusion? Which could explain why "miracles" such as the above happen (cancer and paralysis do not exist for "dead" people or say people in another plane of existence) or why none of them were never supposed to leave. Their place is there now and not in the outside world... -

That all people on the island are dead, was suggested early during the 2nd season if i remember correctly, something which the writers publicly refused. They stated that everything happening in LOST actually happens, or something like that.
As for other questions you place, well i am afraid the answer will prove to be something not important / serious at all, or even stupid, as it's the case with lots of answers in LOST so far. I am talking about your "The Others, Jacob, why they kidnap certain people, Widmore Vs Ben, why Walt was special, Richard, the monster, the ruins of the temple, the Egyptian statue" points. Walt is a whiny little brat btw, i don't think he has anything special in him whatsoever. The monster's probably a Dharma-built machine.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

I remember the producers refusing that but: a) Of course they weren't going to admit it in season 2 if that is the case and b) they might not be "dead" as we understand it. What happens on the Island is something beyond living and dead I believe.
There is something special about Walt. Which is why the Others kidnapped him. But we don't know the answer yet, as we don't know why they kidnapped other people and why some seem to be "converted" eg. Cindy. There was a mobisode (one scene not featured in one of the regular episodes) where Walt is locked up by the Others and seems to be upset causing some sort of chaos. Juliet and Ben are outside discussing over the bodies of dead birds and Juliet is telling Ben "no-one wants to go inside". So Walt does have some sort of power.
Locke is special too. As is Desmond. And Hurley (remember Ben's reaction when Hurley mentions that he can see the cabin?)
As for the answers already given, so far I must say I'm not disappointed personally. Lost is a "sci-fi" let's say show. The weird things happening on the island could not be explained by normal means. The island is a place with high energy, like many other places on earth. This in fact is true in real life. There are places on earth where they are suggested to be centres or cores of EM energy. Our knowledge and understanding though are still lacking.
The backgrounds of most characters and their motives have been well-explained. The reasoning of Dharma and the numbers have been almost resolved. The time-shifting theory was suggested some time ago and it just came into perspective. I think this is what bugs most people about this season. So far, the time factor has been an abstract theory but in Season 5 we actually see it happening. The idea that Time is yet but another dimension has been suggested from physicists years ago, so the perspective of time that Lost is giving us seems logical and even plausible dare I say.
Bottom line is that, what should we be expecting instead of that given? Would we be more satisfied if Kate woke up and all was a dream? Or if it's all nothing but Hurley's imagination? Lost deals with phenomena beyond our physical world. Sure there are things which I'm not happy with, like with other shows. For example, I'm not too fond of the love triangles/rectangles. And it bugs me that Sawyer has been shagging Juliet for 3 years, yet has demanded no explanation from her concerning the work of Others.
But Season 5 is the one to lead to the last one. Questions HAVE to be answered. Things WILL seem a bit rushed, since all this time we were getting only one answer per season, not per episode. Lost IS about energy, time, death, the paranormal, afterlife, destiny and God knows (if he does) about what else. Hopefully the writers will keep up the good work, since so far I believe all of this has been carefully planned. And everything will eventually form a bigger picture. There is no room for stupid or hastened answers. Jacob, the Others, Richard... They still have a story to tell and it's not (I hope and believe) a simple explanation that they are "special people" and simply do not age or whatever.
As for the monster; sure it might be a Dharma construct. But how and why was it made? How does it take other forms? What does it do to people? Why does it kill some of them and some not? -

E.g. They get back to the island. Fine. They do it by plane. Fine. A ton of other passengers survive. Fine. But the problem is the plane doesn't crash or explode - it just lands - and Jack, Kate and Hurley ended up on a totally different island to where it landed. What?! -

Well, it hasn't been explained yet! I mean, it took us 2 seasons to find out how 815 crushed and 5 seasons into the show we still don't know why some survived and some not. So, I don't see the 316 crash/landing as badly-written at this stage because we still don't know how it came to land on the Hydra island and why. -
