It's a great game score! My only gripe is that the action cues end up looping then fade out. I re-edited those tracks to have a suedo ending rather than looping back around.
But it's a great work. Lots of fine, atmospheric cues nicely performed by large orchestra. -

So much easier, more elegant and more poignant a listen than just, for the sake of argument, for example merely randomly skipping through random tracks, don't you think?'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn -

NP: Letters To Elena - Edín Soís
I came across this nice little score today (from iTunes): a delicate orchestral score for small ensemble including guitar, piano and ethereal voice (a bit of a change from Alex Puddu's recent score for a film entitled The Golden Age of Danish Pornography that I also came across today).
A warning though: I hadn't come across Costa Rican Soís' name before and so I headed off to imdb.com and then on to his listed "official site". I wouldn't advise anyone else to head there though. As soon as I clicked on the link my browser popped up a warning of a bit of dodginess and my anti-virus scanner popped up warning me that it had just quarantined an .exe file it detected in a temp folder. Turned out to be a crypt.xpack.gen Trojan. I deleted the file from the quarantine. A lucky escape? The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

Oh, and anyone that found my reference to the Puddu soundtrack of interest here's a link to some samples of his seventies-infused score:

No, and it got in. I had to removed it.

How did you know it had got in?
My anti-virus did detect something, moved the offending file to quarantine and I manually deleted it. I think that it is gone but I would welcome any hints on what to look out for. Earlier I was listening to Music Box Records' forthcoming release of François de Roubaix's score for the 1974 TV show À Vous de Jouer Milord. Very much not the sort of music I like. Very poppy, and mixed with various electronic keyboards, plus orchestral elements. Sounds more fun than I find it.
I don't think that I have heard of any of de Roubaix's work that I like (though my exposure is very limited). The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

The anti virus program found it and quarantened it. It installed itself, as I recall, without any downloading or whatnot -- just wham, bam, thank you ma'am, and I didn't even get anything out of it.
Anyway, I was just warning you and others. The views and opinions of Ford A. Thaxton are his own and do not necessarily reflect the ones of ANYONE else. -

The Tribute team have totally nailed this one! What a dynamic recording!
This CD is a total joy from start to finish!
I'll just add a sentence here without an exclamation mark at the end. Done.
So much to take in with this music! And a digest of liner notes to read through!
I love this kind of release! -

Angela's Ashes - John Williams
I don't mind the narration that is included with a number of tracks, though I do wish I could choose which version to listen to (i.e. one without that narration). It's a beautifully melancholic theme that William's builds the score around.
I decided to listen to this one when a member on the evermore childish FSM boards wrote that this and Rosewood left him cold. Both are fine examples of William's range to me. Rosewood in particular is terrific as he leverages the old gospel song into his powerful score.Insert witty line here -

Angela's Ashes is one of my favourite scores, without a doubt. It's melancholy without being depressing, and beautiful without being overbearing. The string writing is perhaps some of the best I've heard from John Williams. It's just wonderful. (I've only ever heard the 'promo' version, so I don't know anything about the dialogue.) -

The Ghost and the Darkness - Jerry Goldsmith
It's about as authentically African as Ali Bongo, but it's so entertaining. "Lions Attack" is one hell of an action track. -
- CommentTimeFeb 24th 2012
I was listening to that earlier on. I was flicking through Goldsmith scores to try and impress the opposite sex. (And if they don't like Goldsmith, they are wrong... but to her credit, I think she did! I hope.) -

It is rare, I think, for a desirable woman to do anything other than fall in love with a man who shows her his Goldsmith collection.
