A Raisin in the Sun / Requiem for a Heavyweight (Laurence Rosenthal)

  4. Kritzerland's next release has been guessed. Three Franz Waxman scores on one CD:

    haineshisway:
Elephant walk, Bottany bay and Stalag 17 in one CD?

Yes! All the surviving cues from each, with Botany Bay having the most cues survive, over thirty-five glorious minutes. Stalag is a very short score - we have most of it. Elephant Walk is about fifteen minutes or so, I think - and in stereo.

  5. Sony Classical will release "Romeo & Juliet" (James Horner).

  8. Good news, FSM fans. SAE has posted this news at FSM today:

Back by popular demand, we are repressing limited quantities of THE WILD BUNCH (1000), KING KONG (1000), UNDER FIRE (300) and SUPERMAN (300). UNDER FIRE is back in stock now. Watch the FSM/SAE site when the others are available. SUPERMAN and THE WILD BUNCH will take six to eight weeks and we will do a few others if print still exists.

We can only use the current paper and discs already printed so the quantities are based on the availability of those items.

  9. The Big Country - Jerome Moross (Harkit)

Now, I love the Main Title and have it in several re-recordings. I don't know about the rest of the score having seen the film a long while ago. Do you think this release is worth picking up?

I would say that, yes, it is worth picking up. But I am not sure about picking it up from Harkit. They don't have a particularly good reputation (you may already be aware of this).

I would go down the route of listening to some clips of the entire original score here:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Country-Origina … dmusic_a_1

And seeing if it's suits your tastes. I personally prefer the original version to the re-recordings. And if you like the original version see if you can get a digital copy from a local online store (but make sure you listen to the quality of the tracks as well as the track number as there's different versions about).

As far as my link is concerned, £3.50 for almost 75 minutes of classic western scoring is a bargain.

Rather than put up a new topic I thought I'd ask here first. BARNABY TAYLOR, I saw his CD WILD ARABIA for sale, anyone here can comment on it? BBC TV music is nearly always exceptional and I note this is played by the BBC concert orchestra plus some ethnic instrumentation. I have a vague memory of seeing some of the show and thinking the music was good but not a strong enough memory to blind buy even though I saw it going much cheaper than it is for sale at Amazon.

    Anyone can comment?

  12. I have this one, though I haven't listened to it much. What I remember is that there is a mix of styles ranging from the ethnic-tinged tracks through to more modern ostinato-driven tracks: so there is a mix. In saying that though, I have only taken 10 minutes worth of music from this 50-minute album for repeated listening.

As far as I can remember, I wasn't too taken by the ethnic parts but preferred the more ostinato-driven cues.

I seem to recall that James spoke highly of it a while back?

Hmmm? I looked on MovieWave for a review but there isn't one.

Thanks for that info, it's the "ethnic" stuff that may be holding me back, particularly as it'll be Middle Eastern ethnic, Indian and South East Asian and I'd have plucked it up blind.

It's on Spotify Timmer. I have only heard it once I think but then forgot about it. I remember I liked it but like Alan said it's not so memorable like for instance Africa. But it's certainly good music with much more exotic elements then Africa or Fenton's scores. I'll have a listen again because I forgot about the score.

Has anyone seen the documentary? Is it in the same class as Africa?

  14. Since we´re already on it, does anybody know whether Barnaby Taylor´s music from the BBC documentary Europe - A Natural History, also known as Wild Europe is available somewhere? I´ve been looking for it anywhere for ages, but haven´t had any luck so far. There are three short tracks on youtube, but I´d immediately buy a complete album.
  15. LLLR's SUMMER 2013 UPDATE:

It's a good thing we aren't going to Comic Con this year because I don't think any of the super duper projects we are working on would have been done by then! lol

We have been receiving TONS of emails regarding some of our upcoming releases we have previously mentioned. Here is an update

LLLCD 1250 - WYATT EARP - Mr Costner has signed off on the package (and he loved it, I might add). We are just waiting on WB to give us the final thumbs up on the artwork. It's at least 2 months out, though.

LLLCD 1252 - CHARMED - coming out next Tuesday -- YEAH!

LLLCD 1257 - artwork approved! Will be out July 2.

LLLCD 1258 - INTO THE WEST - coming out next Tuesday -- YEAH!

LLLCD 1259 - hoping we get final artwork sign off this week. If so, it will be out July 2...very fitting too considering current releases and the upcoming holiday.

LLLCD 1260 - in artwork approval stage. Most likely out in August

LLLCD 1261 - awesome new release that took forever to clear, but all is well now. Should be out July 16

LLLCD 1262 - YOUNG JUSTICE - JULY 16 -- just waiting on one final artwork approval and then it's off to manufacture

LLLCD 1263 - OH, MAMA! This one is awesome. Still waiting on final artwork approval from WB.

LLLCD 1264 - I, THE JURY - should be out this August.

LLLCD 1265 - THE CONJURING - will be part of our July 16 batch. Great score by Bishara and lovely Family Theme by Mark Isham

LLLCD 1266 - artwork approval stage at WB

LLLCD 1267 - CAPRICA - in final artwork approval stage. Should be out July 30

LLLCD 1268 - all done. Will be out July 2 or July 16, depends on if 1259 is all done and ready to go by July 2

LLLCD 1269 - POLICE ACADEMY - waiting on one last bit of music. FALL release

LLLCD 1270 - X FILES VOL 2 - master approved. Liner notes all done as of today. Artwork to be worked on. Should be out late August/early September

    LLLCD 1271 -

LLLCD 1272 - Just handed into WB this morning. Sept release most likely

    Voyager is a 2014 release

    MV

Which means we have one mroe this year. A year or so ago MV said at the FSM forum he intended to do Enterprise first, then Voyager.
