Why has there not already been a version of the Exodus story made that features Moses standing on the far side of the Red Sea, just as the waters are about to recede and flood the Egyptians, and he slams his staff on the ground and yells,
    "You....shall not..."
    *waters come slamming down*
    "PASS!"

I would enjoy to be shown around that studio and be allowed to fool around with the hardware.
Bach's music is vibrant and inspired.

    I am in that movie.

    Well, I say "in".

    I was an extra.

    In a crowd.

That probably won't be in focus.

So I'm totally "in" that movie. wink

Are you disappointed that you're not scored by Giacchino or Powell? cheesy

I am sure that he had one of their themes playing in his head whilst he was "acting". Zimmer will have him photoshop'd out.

I think it has the potential to be one of Zimmer's best scores of the past 10 years. I'm hoping for a Dark Knight level of leitmotific integrity and complexity but with a bit more major-key uplifting feel. Obviously there won't be anything as bold as the Williams theme but it would be really nice if he could go back to his Gladiator or At World's End melody-writing at least once. Zach Snyder is obviously willing to have thematic material in his films, see 300, even if that thematic material was plagiarized, it was still quite pleasantly melodic in and of itself. And Legend of the Guardians has some nice themes as well.

Get's kind of interesting at about 2:45. I'm getting really tired of the style he stuck to for the first part of the song though.

I am looking forward to it. Surely, it will re-invent modern film music trends once again.

    1.Gladiator
    2.BlackHawk Down
3.Batman Begins - Dark Knight - Dark Knight Rises
    4.Inception - Tron:legacy
    5.Man of steel

It's bound to happen wink I am thinking a fusion of Nolan's batman sound with the Lorne Balfe-isms of Inception and Daft Punk's tron, into something new. Won't be very leitmotific i guess but you never know.

I feel that the Nolan Batman films are very leitmotific. It's just that instead of themes its constructed of short motifs and soundscapes and ambient sonic colors. But their usage is relatively consistent and accurate throughout all 3 films. For example, in TDKR, Zimmer went to the trouble to bring back the League of Shadows "action" theme from the temple fight in Batman Begins (Myotis on the album) and used an evolved adaption of it for the bike chase after Bane attacks the stock exchange, which appropriately is an action by the League of Shadows, so it fits perfectly.

It is indeed very leitmotific in that way, but certainly in a very different, sound-design-centered Zimmer way. Not in the traditional way. I thought you meant man of steel was going to be the latter wink

Well, I think it might be a little more towards the traditional way than the Batman films were. Certainly not completely the traditional way. But a little more in that direction hopefully.

Or maybe they'll decide that Superman has not earned a theme and instead he'll have a "wooshing sound" theme for his flying and a one-and-a-half note "should i save the world" angst motif. wink

  4. Well, he told me that it's not a "synth score" and some time ago he said he was aiming for a longer thematic line. What will come out of it, we'll see.

Hey, thanks. Really digging the direction he's doing with it. HEAT meets his pre-CRIMSON TIDE action sound.
