One of nature's most awesome spectacles right at your front door!? Hell yeah!
  2. Just stay inside. These days, those flashes are out to bite you. They´ve become extraordinarily aggressive. Struck down 18 persons last week just thirty miles from here.
  3. 18 people in ONE place? shocked

Yeah, never a good idea to attempt human acrobatics in a thunderstorm. Only ends in disaster.

De Gentse Feesten start today! (Ghent Festivities)

This is 10 days of festivities, parties, concerts, events, etc in the inner city of Ghent, on all squares, markets, next to towers and churches, in the shadow of trees and the mighty Saint Bavo Cathedral, and on the river Leie. One of our most famous events.

I join in the fun this evening, a pre-concert, and then stay there for a night or 4, then back to work for 3 days, and then back to Ghent for the last two days. I hope t live there nextyear, and have a full 10 days of festivities. biggrin

About 35km. Which is not much, I know, and I can fairly easy access it. But it's better there than where I live now, in terms of things to do. Most things I want to do, happen in Ghent (Film festival and the concerts, parties, Gentse Feesten, great cafes, excellent places to have a drink in the sun, and what a beautiful city).

You should attend once for the film music concerts. smile

It was at the APX, the Archaeological Park Xanten, where they are rebuilding the old Roman city.

When the flash hit them, 18 people got hurt. 4 had to be reanimated.

This is a video from a guy who was VERY close. It hit the treeline that´s right beside the amphitheatre where most of the people took shelter. Those under the trees weren´t so lucky.

BTW, the park is extraordinary. I´ve been there at least a dozen times, I think.

Of course in the US of A you can get those by correctly identifying a car by it having four wheels in wry contrast to -say- The Netherlands where you have to pay several thousands of euros, have three separate written tests with a passing grade of .96 before doing your practical that has no measurable objectives and which you cannot appeal against (even if the only thing that matters is just the examinator's subjective and unquantified opinion), but still: congratulations, William!
    Nice one!

(And forgive my little rant. I sincerely dislike the Dutch system)
