Great concert. The program included the entire Saxophone Concerto, 101 Dalmatians, Brazil and a big chunk of Robin Hood.

Kamen's family and saxophonist Amy Dickson (who recently recorded the Saxophone Concerto) were present.
  1. Wow, big treat for Michael Kamen fans.

La-La Land Records, Warner Bros. and WEA celebrate Warner Bros.’ 90th Anniversary with the LETHAL WEAPON SOUNDTRACK COLLECTION, an 8-CD BOX SET featuring Michael Kamen, Eric Clapton, and David Sanborn’s iconic film scores from all four LETHAL WEAPON films. Each LETHAL WEAPON score is contained in its own 2-CD jewel case, and all four scores, along with a 40-Page booklet, are housed in an attractive slip case.

Finally, some of the greatest action film music ever composed -- from the most celebrated cop-action saga of all time -- is presented here in a deluxe presentation worthy of their legacy. The scores to LETHAL WEAPON 1-3 have been greatly expanded beyond their original soundtrack album presentations (the original soundtrack assemblies are remastered and presented as well.) and the score from LETHAL WEAPON 4 makes its world premiere with this set. A bounty of previously unreleased score music is featured here, literally hours worth, along with bonus score tracks and knockout songs from the likes of Sting, Elton John, George Harrison, The Beach Boys and more – not to mention the Bobby Helms rendition of “Jingle Bell Rock,” which opens the original LETHAL WEAPON!

Produced by Neil S. Bulk and MV Gerhard and mastered by James Nelson from WB vault materials, this amazing release, limited to 3000 Units, features a 40 Page booklet with exclusive liners by film music writer Jeff Bond, with new comments from director Richard Donner, and explosive art design by Jim Titus. Once you dig into this sensational set, we know you’ll agree with us – when it comes to Michael Kamen and LETHAL WEAPON, you’ll never get “too old for this sh#*!”

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this item will be donated to the Mr Holland’s Opus Foundation. More information on this wonderful organization can be found here: http://www.mhopus.org/

NOTE: All of, or portions of, the following four tracks from LETHAL WEAPON 3 were mastered from film stem sources (as no other elements could be located) and are of lesser sound quality than the rest of the presentation, which was mastered from pristine analog and digital WB vault materials. Disc 5: 10. Jack Kills Billy (2:08 - end), 15. Man's Best Friend / Lorna's First Fight (1:42 - 2:54), 18. Shaving. Disc 6: 14. I Can't Retire

As usual, I would prefer four carefully designed listening experiences, but hey -- it's great that these soundtracks are out in a neat box-type thing. This is fan fodder, I'm sure.

I'm very happy with the Lethal Weapon set. I'm not as familiar with the scores as I am with Kamen's Die Hard trilogy, but I remember digging that sax & guitar when seeing the movies, the first two are the best. A lot of music is apparently 'new' in that it didn't get used in the movies, this I'm also looking forward to.

It's funny how the same aspect of a score can have different effects on people. I was curious about these scores and listed to the clips (I've not heard any of the scores away from the films). Upon hearing the sax & guitar "combo" I was immediately put off!

Clapton and Sanborn are brilliant in the Lethal Weapon score. Awesome combo of guitar and sax perfectly capturing the ultimate buddy cops, Murtaugh and Riggs. And Kamen's action music is explosive. You won't find too many better action cues than "Hollywood Blvd Chase" and "Armour Piercing Bullets."

    Fantastic scores all around.

Believe it or not, but EVENT HORIZON is 20 years old TODAY!

It's one my dearest movies from the 90s, so I just wrote this tribute article for its anniversary:

    http://montages.no/2017/08/event-horizon-1997/

(it's in Norwegian, but you can run it through Google Translate....it's mostly about the visuality, anyway, with lots of still images)
    I am extremely serious.
  5. For real? cheesy

Might as well see it again on dvd today... remember when I saw it in the cinema.
"considering I've seen an enormous debate here about The Amazing Spider-Man and the ones who love it, and the ones who hate it, I feel myself obliged to say: TASTE DIFFERS, DEAL WITH IT" - Thomas G.
  6. You do that. Maybe the best blend of science fiction and horror since Aliens.

    Volker
Bach's music is vibrant and inspired.
  7. Definitely inferior to Aliens, Anderson is no Cameron. But it's very watchable, and disturbing.
"considering I've seen an enormous debate here about The Amazing Spider-Man and the ones who love it, and the ones who hate it, I feel myself obliged to say: TASTE DIFFERS, DEAL WITH IT" - Thomas G.
  8. Well, I said "since", not "as good as". So I agree.
Bach's music is vibrant and inspired.
  9. Honestly, best Christmas / New Year's Eve news ever shocked

A 2 CD presentation of Robin Hood
Now this is a release that's deserving this expanded treatment. Finally we'll hear the full picture of what is Kamen's most cherished score.

    thank you Intrada punk

This one, you will get "too"? Shouldn't that be "This one I will get, however"?

I have zero interest in any expansion of this soundtrack, which is perfectly fine as is. However, I wonder if this new release fixes the 'fade' problem in the OST.
