This hit single was the work of ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER, His wife bet him he couldn't produce a hit pop single and this track went in at # 1 in the British charts in 1990.

    TRUE or FALSE ?

I dare NOT clicking on that link. I say TRUE however. I guess, from your warning that it must be hideous and Andrew's proven numerous times he's capable of such.

I'm not really sure if that's the original version of that song (I seem to have heard a much older one), so if there's an earlier, less...uhm, cheesy version of the song out there, then sure, why not? Lloyd-Webber is a master tunesmith and can do anything he wants.

    I say TRUE.

Yes Thor, there is indeed a much older version of that song ( early 1960's ). The one in my link is from 1990.

p.s. it was cheesy way back when too. cheesy

Oh! That song?? What's wrong with that song?? That's really famous! And hence I'm gonna say that it's entirely possible that it could be a Lloyd Webber piece. I don't happen to know who wrote this, so why not him?

Yeah, it is a very well known song. I remembering hear the older version a lot when I was little. There were advertisements using it throughout the years.

p.s. Webber didn't actually write it as some of you may think, he just masterminded this novelty pop hit.

Just a very quick one until I can think of something better.....

One of these classical pieces is the odd one out....and why?

Also Sprach Zarathustra - Richard Strauss

    Bolero - Maurice Ravel

    Die Valkyrie - Richard Wagner

Adagio For Strings - Samuel Barber

Symphony Antartica - Ralph Vaughan Williams

    Piano Concerto # 2 - Sergey Rachmaninov

Duettino-Sull'aria ( from The Marriage of Figaro ) - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Rhapsody In Blue - George Gershwin

Hopefully this one is easy??? wink

You've opened yourself up to more than one possibility! I think the obvious answer is that the Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto #2 wasn't a featured theme in a film although I remember it in "Center Stage" and "Rhapsody" among a couple of them. All the others are featured prominently in a film.

The other obvious possible answer is that the RVW was specifically written for a film, "Scott of the Antarctic"
