Sorry for keeping you waiting, I should have said it was going to be thursday probably!

Anyway, I'm afraid I didn't put the question clear enough and the way I put it the answer is not 100% TRUE or FALSE. Also, Heero's thinking about feeling wind on the eyes is good but it's not included in my answer at all. Anyway, if my question had been:

'To know if the eye is open visual information is more important to the brain than the feeling'

    then the answer is TRUE

Here's the explanation and an experiment you can do if you have a couple of minutes left:
    - go to a dark room somewhere (bathroom without windows or something), turn of the light and get used to the dark for about 5 minutes. After a couple of minutes you can see some things you couldn't see at first
    - now close your right eye and cover it with your right hand
    - turn the light on and so that the left eye gets used to the light for one minute
    - turn the light of again
    - if you remove your right hand and open your right eye, you can still see in the dark with that eye
    - the left eye can't see a thing. But what's weird is that it will feel as if your left eye is closed and you're trying to open it but you can't.
    - the only way to feel that the left eye is open is to put your left hand on the left eye

What happens here is that the brain is confused. When you put your hand in front of the eye that can't see it understand why you can't see. But when your hand is not there and the left eye can't see (while the right eye can) it makes no sense and it actually feels as if that eye is closed. It's really weird to feel that you try to open an eye that's already open!

So the visual information is more important and the feeling is giving wrong information here. flash

    BRONTOPHOBIA

It seems these days that there's a phobia for everything, though rare, Brontophobia was first diagnosed back in the 1930's and it means an irrational fear of DINOSAURS, even of their bones, sufferers cannot even walk into a museum for fear bones may be on display.

Despite it's rarity I actually know two people personally who suffer Brontophobia, when they visit my house I have to make sure books, models and even my Jurassic Park DVD's are out of sight, it sounds silly but it's no laughing matter to those who suffer it.

    TRUE or FALSE ?

Phobia names never sound like what they are, so I'm gonna say FALSE.

May not be a laughing matter, but it IS funny. biggrin

Good reasoning but then surely it would be called Dinophobia?

Are you suggesting my brain gets confused!! I resent this implication!!! *huff*

Seriously, truly interesting! Amazing how force of habit works on us. And I get credit for thinking outside the box with your original phrasing! cheesy

You do not know two people personally who suffer Brontophobia, Timmer, but rather three.

I'm sure such a "fear" exists - perhaps even as phobia (although I always thought you could only have phobia for things that exist today), but Brontophobia.....Nah.

    FALSE.
    I am extremely serious.

I have no idea! I know nothing about dinosaurs! Or phobias! I will need to read up! Spend my lonely evenings in study hall, cramming useless paleontolithic and medical facts into my noggin' while I should be finishing my thesis.
    Oh my poor blood pressure.
