Did anyone else catch David doing some stuff with the Kaiser Chiefs for the BBC electric proms? I saw it on TV a while ago and had a brief chat with him about it at the WSA.
There's a cool video here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/electricproms/2007 … serchiefs/
The ukulele (sp?!) cover of ''Ruby'' is definatly the highlight. -

Those are mine:

2nd place: Stargate 2 points (most versatile achievement in blow-your-speakers mode)
3rd place: Amazing Grace 1 point (best achievement in getting those tears to roll mode) -

We're talking soundtrack ALBUMS, I presume, and not how they work in their respective movies.
From what I've heard and/or own, my picks are:
1. STARGATE
2. GODZILLA (the promo thing, not the expanded 2CD set, which is too much)
3. SHAFT (again, the promo, not the commercial disc)I am extremely serious. -

1. GODZILLA
2. ID4
3. STARGATELove Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

We are talking about soundtracks. That's it. As heard in the film or not. This isn't rocket science. Just answer the question.

Good lord! It's the same damn score. And do you EVER stop with the hatred towards complete and chronological.

1) Tomorrow Never Dies
2) Die Another Day (Complete)
3) The World is Not Enough
I love Arnold's Bond work. IMHO they all have some catchy themes and some of my favorite techno in film scores. I'd like to put Godzilla or ID4 up there, but I just can't get enough of Arnold in Bond mode. -

This is as difficult as picking for Williams and Horner, but for the opposite reason (obviously).
I suppose:
Independence Day
Godzilla
Stargate -

Ooh, Ernie's time to shine...
1. Independence Day *****
Although I perhaps feel Stargate still sounds like Arnold's most "fresh" work (whatever that may mean) and even perhaps includes some of his most mature writing (along with Amazing Grace), ID4 is the ultimate feel-good score. Not feel-good in the fluffy, romantic sense but in the kick-ass had-a-bad-day-so-put-this-on-really-fucking-loud masterpiece kind of way. It has helped me through some 'tough' times (oh woe is me) and has never failed to get the heart pumping. The end credits suite is the most magnificent thing Arnold has ever written, and even before seeing it played live by the LSO with Arnold in the audience I had a very personal connection with it. This score is without a doubt in my top 5 of all time!
2. Stargate ****1/5
For the reasons expressed above. That theme, for me, is up there with the best sci-fi themes ever created and since I first saw this film many moons ago has always remained pretty damn close to me. I know every single note off by heart, and it was one of my very first scores I got to know like that. Love the inventive, dense orchestrations especially for the Stargate travel scene! It's an old-fashioned sci-fi adventure score... and it introduced me to film music.
3. Godzilla ****1/5
This has much the same effect on me as ID4. This is just one helluva great action score with some awesome percussion to boot. It didn't take long at all for this one to become a favourite since I had only heard it properly when it was released last year. -

Four and a fifth? A very precise rating! What would it have taken to raise the score to four and four fifteenths? -
- CommentTimeJan 24th 2008
Fuck sake, I keep doing that. (It's cause I'm thinking of 0.5.) -

- CommentTimeJan 24th 2008
Using the 0.5 measure is just for people who can decide how good a score actually is. -

the new James bond film will be called "Quantum of Solace" ...
That's about the weirdest title since euhm... Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Indeed, really odd.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

I don't care as long as it's good. (Film and score). -
- CommentTimeJan 24th 2008
Well the long-hyped previous (film) was nothing special at all in violent contrast to the score which absolutely rocked so yeah, you can say i am looking forward to this new score as well!Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

- CommentTimeJan 24th 2008
Heh, I really liked the film but felt the score was probably Arnold's weakest (but most sensible) Bond effort. -
- CommentTimeJan 24th 2008
I thought the last film was excellent. Score was a bit humdrum, but then it was by David Arnold after all. -
- CommentTimeJan 24th 2008
The last film was the best Bond film I've ever seen and the score was top notch!
