I heard back from Corbeil asking if his score for the "V" pilot will be used. He's unaware if it's being replaced, but he did say he never intended to score the series, so it could jsut be he did the pilot, but Beltrami is the regular series composer. I assume Beltrami won't stick round either, but rather he'll hand the reins off to Buck Sander or somebody else when films call. The views and opinions of Ford A. Yup, this could be freakin' sweet. It's a horror western with Megan Fox! The complete opposite for Jimmy Hayward who also directed Horton Hears A Who. -

I wouldn't trust THE LADY FROM SHANGHAI. He probably would score it if ever got made, but that film isn't even the next film Wong Kar Wai is directing.A butterfly thinks therefore I am -

Brian Tyler won't learn. Read the premise of this new RED DAWN remake crap:

Well Tyler at least tries to put a kind of homage into his remake scores, and those tracks have been among the best on scores like Rambo or AVP:R.
So maybe we´ll get one or two tracks with new versions of Poledouris´ Themes (but of course that won´t do any good for you guys, wouldn´t it? ) -

He's been recycling himself greatly this year and the quality drops every time, even further. Just check the KICK ASS fast and the furious III with the uninspired 4th installment for instance. A homage to a theme amidst a shitload of recycled underscore can't save a score completely. He must take A STEP BACK FROM SCORING CRAP MOVIES ALL THE TIME, in order to actually have the time to work on something correctly and completely, not rushed and frantically.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

Oh I´m a huge Brian Tyler fan. I look forward to listen to his next project/s. I was talking about the movie.
I recently watched "Annapolis" and "Bangkok Dangerous". Bad movies, superbly scored, specially Bangkok Dangerous.Anything with an orchestra or with a choir....at some point will reach you -

No. Why would I want to hear a Brian Tyler version of the Poledouris theme when I can just put my Intrada CD of the real thing on? I'd much rather Tyler went his own way and wrote his own score entirely, but he has been lacking inspiration for a long time now. -

Well, your Intrada CD isn´t going away. Instead you get some additional stuff. Where´s the bad in that?
It´s true, though, that Hollywood lacks originality even more these days. That´s hardly Tyler´s fault, and I´m much happier with him at the helm of a remake score than someone who wouldn´t care about the legacy of the original. -

I can see that point of view, but I'd rather he worked on something which would allow him to just be himself (and preferably for once not an action film).
I rarely really like it when a composer has to work with someone else's themes. Occasionally they just do an impersonation of the other composer for the whole score - that's rarely satisfying. Other times, there are jarring differences where their own music pauses and there's a complete stylistic shift as the other composer's music comes in (eg Giacchino's otherwise-excellent Star Trek, or Tyler's own Rambo, where the contrast between his style and Goldsmith's is incredibly pronounced and certainly threw me out of the film). -

In that case, let's all aim it at Michael Bay and Bates. The views and opinions of Ford A. Thaxton are his own and do not necessarily reflect the ones of ANYONE else. -
