Judging from the plot it's not my kind of movie. But we'll still get a great score by Desplat then! punk

In case of Astro Boy, John Ottman is really scoring it. The session will take place in London this July.

Was he ever really on "Unthinkable" or considered?

    Very surprising choice:

    New Moon
    Alexandre Desplat

    Source: www.carterburwell.com/projects/Twilight.html#Sequel

Even though I am not a fan at all of the movie(s)/books, I sort of liked the first score by Burwell. It wasn't anything spectacular, but I'm sure it serviced the movie well (I didn't see the movie BTW).

Let's see what Desplat can come up with because I was one of those who didn't find anything special at all in The Golden Compass.
  2. "Other Side of the Game"
Neil Stemp (first credited film score; usually just a music editor for Trevor Jones)
Source: movie's official website, which I assume has his score playing in the background.

    "Mr. Troop Mom"
    David Kitay
Source: non provided, but he is.

    Preacher's Kid"
    Tim Miner (and songs)
Source: his hot wife's MySpace page, where she also says he will score her movie "Steel Broken". Appearently he's involved in producing and gospel music.

Out of curiosity, I e-mailed the director of "Orphans", and he confirmed Ottman and said Ottman was doing an amazing job.

  3. "Christina"
    "Give 'em Hell, Malone"

    David Williams
    Source:
    1st: his MySpace page.
2nd: says the score is completed, on his site.

Not a sequel to the 80's "Malone".

  4. The Hangover
    Christophe Beck

  5. I'm getting tired of Beck scoring all these ditsy comedies.

  6. No surprise here, but I don't think it was confirmed before:

I thought the third wasn't as good as the first two, but still interested in this one.

And it's actually not that big a surprise since Desplat scored the director's previous movie...

Actually, I could quote off the top of my head a dozen titles were a director's next film wasn't scored by the previous composer. Heck, probably a dozen Goldsmith examples alone.

  8. Yeah, but if he chooses the composer he worked with before, it wouldn't be shocking. For Weitz the typical choice would be between Desplat and Burwell on this one.

On Dark Horizons, there is a press release from Universal Pictures and Working Title that Thomas Newman will score the Nanny McPhee sequel, Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang (yes, that IS the title). Guess the director didn't want Doyle for a second go-round...

    Thomas Newman? GREAT choice!!!
  12. Doesn't Emma Thompson do it again?

Emma Thompson only wrote the script and starred in the first movie, and she's doing the same for the sequel. Kirk Jones directed the first one, Christianna Brand is directing this flick.

  15. She´s producing too, AFAIK.
