No pictures of dead Laden yet?

I wonder if the american military had captured him alive whether they would report that they had killed him, to avoid all the judicial and diplomatic mayhem. Also, a live man can talk and might have valuable information while a dead man can not, so he'd likely be worth alot more live than dead.

In any case, it's curious that this particular conspiracy theory hasn't caught on yet.

I've been disgusted and offended all day by all of the celebrating and partying I've seen on the news. I'm glad we finally got him, and buried him at sea (thank goodness no future burial place shrine), yet celebrating a death is sickening to me. At most I see it as closure for many friends and family, and something deserving of a toast to a job well done. Chanting USA in the streets was tasteless and really does sicken me. My apologies for many of the Americans on TV.

I believe killing him was best though. This way there are no hostage situations demanding his release, or things of that nature. I'd rather bite the bullet and take on Terrorist retribution then face having to consider releasing him. Also, though I doubt it would be the case, the Taliban and Al-qaeda have a pretty good track record for prison escapes. slant

Two of my photos and a video made it onto BBC News showing the forest fires in our area.

I went back out to the woods tonight and have lots of pictures of the aftermath. It's like walking through Mordor.

If you're on Facebook I've got lots more pictures and videos there.

    Very happy to see this:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-13559597

The man accused of being responsible for the worst atrocities in Europe since the Nazis, finally arrested. Assuming the charges against him are true, he is responsible for far more deaths than a certain Saudi gentleman who was recently killed by the Americans, but of course won't attract the same attention. Funny old world!

    About bloody time.

It sounds like he's going for the "I'm too old and weak to stand trial" strategy already.

Also, in regards to the "too old and weak for trial"...usually those who are too old and weak are killed first during genocides, but no, we mustn't treat the perpetrator accordingly. He'll be afforded the whol eleniency and care of the judicial system.

And in the mean time, tribes in Yemen have taken over two government military camps forcing the government to deploy air force bombers to that region... Another war starting...

There's a Second Day of Rage in Egypt today as well. 100.000 on Tahrir.

  3. Just seen this posted on Twitter by Frank Gardner, BBC journalist:

"Oh joy. US officials have been briefing journos on the risk of terrorists having surgically implanted bombs."

I think we should say something about the tragic event in Cyprus. I don't know how many of you heard of it. My heart goes out to all my Cypriot brothers and sisters and especially to our D who will surely be devastated by the news.

    I'm OK!!

I heard a blast a couple of hours ago, and assumed it was just thunder. Since I live a couple of kilometers outside the city centre, you can imagine how powerful it must have been.

Two people are confirmed dead, and lots of chaos in the streets.

Of course, we don't know if it was a terror attack, but it seems likely given that it was the parliament quarters.
    I am extremely serious.

The BBC are saying that it is likely to be Al Qaeda, in reprisal for Norwegian involvement in Afghanistan, and the NATO action in Libya.

Glad you're OK Thor. Thinking about you.
