Oh, "Rest Stop", I watched it too some months ago. It´s so hilarious that is funny. I don´t remember the score though; but the girl was pretty hot

You watched REST STOP as well? Man you're either a McCreary junkie or a junk junkie!
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.

    None. tongue
But once in a while I like to watch this crappy-direct-to-DVD movies. After all, these are the kind of movies that I watched on TV when I was a kid. Fortunately I expanded my cinema horizon quite soon. But I like to do a remember from time to time.

My overall take on the Chandos release is a positive one. If I were to choose (1) recording out of several available this would be the one with a single stipulation. If Sea Wolf was the primary work you're interested in. The new FSM release has the advantage of being coupled with King's Row but the overall quality of the tapes that Kendall had to work from were less than. Since I'm so interested in golden age material I'm the exception to the rule in that I have both of them plus more.

Have you heard La Planète Blanche?
    That one is fantastic!

    Is that CRIMSON RIVERS?

It works a bit like INSIDE MAN's music in the film. Bold muscular scoring. I like it. Different from all his 'pretty music'. Though not as good as his best - LE COMTE DE MONTE CRISTO.

  2. I also like Les Rivieres Pourpres. There are some great beefy cues.
The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn
  3. I think Demetris looks to Coulais for things more along the lines of HIMALAYA and HARRISON'S FLOWERS. Beauty over power? wink

Really? I'm almost done with the novel, I ought to check out the album smile

For now, I'm enjoying Vu du ciel by Armand Amar, which I rent (rented? can't remember) today.
Oddly enough, the last track "Terre" is, to my ears at least, the highlight of the album, which overall is very pleasant indeed ...

Edit: Oh! I hadn't noticed Amar had also scored "La Terre Vue Du Ciel" and not only "Vu Du Ciel". Two different albums, geez.
  4. I didn't know they were two different albums either! dizzy

NP: Urban Legends: Final Cut (John Ottman)

A very satisfying score... Ottman is certainly at his best when he does smaller, intimate films. "Sandra's Missing" and "Welcome to Alpine / Amy's Theme" is one of the many highlights of the album.

Franz, le premier cri is nowhere even near his brilliant works "Bab'Aziz ", "Va, vis et deviens ", "Terre vue du ciel, La" and even "Amen" or "Indigènes". As a fan or Armand you are too, you know those works but as a fan or Armand I am as well, i DO know he's a minimalist and i DO know his works; Le premier Cri feels emotionally dry and uninspired and a very disconnected musical experience.

Yikes! I've actually ordered 2 copies of Le Premier Cri from France sometime back but they're yet to reach me. I hope I won't find it as disappointing as you make it out to be. It'd be great if you could post more in the thread for Amar.

Ironically it seems the fragmented themes from Bourne Supremacy.

Anyway...Much better than some people thinks, I really like the mind blowing use of the electronics on this score.

Finally got to hear this album.

    NP:Alien nation (Goldsmith)

Of course is bad, but I find deeper this kind of synthetiser use than other of his scores. In fact Im surprised to discover this kind of Harold Faltelmeyer in Goldsmith and it creates an interesting 80's SCI FIC experience.

The Russia House theme is very funny....
