    Thanks for this.

I would have found it incredibly sad I would have been there for an encore yet wouldn't have got it (like you mention during the Saturday performance). But it's so easy to forget his age and just realize he's doing what a lot of people can't even do at that age anymore. You have to realize he's still doing all the stuff, and so is still fit mentally and physically

It's so easy to remember when you're there. But it sounds like another wonderful evening.
    waaaaaahhhhhhhh!!! Where's my nut? arrrghhhhhhh

It certainly was. I don't know if you've ever seen Williams live or not, but there is (hopefully) another chance in Italy next year. Will be costly, though.
    I am extremely serious.

This has taken me a whole year to prepare and produce, decades if you count the research and accumulation of material. But I thought it was the appropriate time to create now, as a tribute to my favourite film composer in his 90th birthday year.

A complete walkthrough of all of his television music (with the available material and data that we currently have), presented as a podcast series over multiple parts. I hope you tune in and follow it. I will start working on Part 2 soon.

  2. That was interesting. I liked hearing the early General Electric clips, particularly with the focus that was placed on the music for the anthology series with Leigh Phillips' rerecording of a couple of Jerry Goldsmith scores. (I haven't heard the Elmer Bernstein album you mentioned.)

Thanks for the comment, Alan. I haven't heard those Goldsmith scores from PLAYHOUSE 90 yet; my interest in old US TV music is mostly restricted to JW. Mostly.

  3. I have a little fun story...
I visited my husband's family recently and attended my in-law's church for Easter. I found out that the pastor there has a brother who sang in the choral group that recorded Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker with the maestro. Do I feel a teensy bit more connected to John Williams by this non-really-associated-association? Why yes, yes I do, lol. Thought you'd get a kick out if it too.

Cute story, Cailin! Only three degrees of separation. smile

By the way, I forgot to say earlier that the 6th - and final - part of the JW television podcast series was released last week, for anyone interested:
