NP: L'Enquête Corse - Alexandre Desplat
Another "seventies secret agent film" pastiche score: basically it's Austin Powers meets Johnny English meets The Incredibles.
Not bad (quite good, actually), but not brimming with originality.
    A most pleasant listen, though.

    Star Crash -John Barry

A bit embarrassing in a way, but still cheesily great!
  1. Haha, no, I'm not married to John Ottman. smile Though he strangely thought he knew me when I met him for the very first time. He was so enthusiastic, I just held my tongue in embarrassment and didn't correct him that in fact we had never met before, lol.

DAMN! You should have hit him with an alimony suit before he recovered.

Gorgeous! Puts a lot of big budget Hollywood film scores to shame!

Direct to DVD. The soundtrack was released by Disney Records and features about 17 minutes of score plus a 2 and a half minute instrumental version of the song "Here Beside Me" arranged by McNeely.

Very true but it's better than nothing. And I'd rather have this 17 minutes then most of uninspired junk we are getting these days!

  7. I better start remembering to quote people's comments or it'll be a wash of confusion when I respond to seemingly nothing.

And yes, I always choose it first out of my Williams Ross scores (which contains only two additional, Tuck Everlasting and HP: Chamber of Secrets). But still! A gem!
  10. NP: Cefalonia (Ennio Morricone)

It wouldn't work with him, trust me. Not on this particular composer. There is no reason why he would marry a woman.

Agreed. Only 17 minutes, but McNeely makes them count!

  13. NP: Christopher Young - The Uninvited cheesy

His latest score, the latest one in a long line of thriller/horror scores by the guy. Not the best one of the bunch by a long shot, but good old Chris Young fun nonetheless. In other words: if you've been listening to Young for some time don't expect your prefrontal cortex to be titulated.

Sounds a little too much like "The Glass House" and "The Dark Half" for my taste-- he can do better ("Lucky You" and "Hellraiser"! lick )

Will listen to John Frizzell - VR.5 next, a television score from 1995 I've never heard before.

I met Caroline a few years ago too and totally agree with you, a very warm and friendly person and still damned good looking, I don't know how old she is but it must be between 50-60?

Where did you meet her Eric? I met her at the Birmingham NEC at a Memorabilia show with lots of other stars of Cult TV and Sci-Fi.

NP: Et Après (Afterwards) - Alexandre Desplat

First listen... first track... is it just me or it the theme a bastardized version of John Williams' Monica's Theme from A.I.?! uhm

BTW, the second track... really good. Jazzy textures, bursts of sax, patented low bassline, swirling strings... very interesting! Come on Desplat, don't let me down... again.

Oh, but wait... track 3... "River Flows" sleep
